Born in Time (Part One)

You're comin' thru to me in black and white
When we were made of dreams - Bob Dylan

You've seen the story of the presidential doodles. There are many odd and revealing examples, such as GHW Bush's "any more dead ones?" (ABC News says his sad and teary face "gives the note a bit of melancholy, or maybe humor," appropriately ambiguous for a man of shimmering surface and black depths), but the one perhaps receiving the most notice hasn't even been reproduced online. It's a page from John F Kennedy, on which he's written, repeatedly, "9-11," and underscored the word "conspiracy" next to it.

Paul Joseph Watson wondered whether this was some kind of "inside joke" or a "hat tip to the 9/11 truth movement" before concluding "one thing's for sure - it's weird." I'd say rather that two things are certain: it's both weird, and it's not.

ABC explains the numbers, without accounting for the word "conspiracy," by saying that "It turns out that was the tally of a committee vote, not a foreshadowing of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks." But that's a misapprehension of foreshadowing, which always carries within it a duality, referencing both a prosaic explanation and a supra-prosaic that is revealed only in hindsight. If this were, say, a Richard Condon novel and not living history, and so foreshadowing just a literary device, there would be no dispute that Kennedy's doodle fit the definition. It's disputed now because people object to the impression that we may be the characters instead of the authors of our lives.

Kennedy's doodle didn't "predict" 9/11 any more than The Coup's cover art or The Lone Gunman's pilot episode, but all three are suggestive of a grander conspiracy - the grandest - that encompasses all of human history. I'm talking about the conspiracy of consciousness. That by encoding the narrative of history with artful gestures of interpretation - the things that make us go hmmm - consciousness conspires to bring us to comprehension.

Consider for a moment the familiar JFK and Abraham Lincoln coincidences, how their stories seem to enfold, and unfold, one another. Such details as Lincoln's election to congress in 1846, JFK's exactly 100 years later, and each entering the presidency 14 years after that; Lincoln's having a secretary named Kennedy, and Kennedy's a secretary Lincoln, and each being succeeded by a man named Johnson; both were shot in the head on a Friday, Lincoln by a man with three names born in 1839 who fled a theatre to a warehouse, while Kennedy's alleged three-named gunman, born in 1939, fled a warehouse to a theatre; "Kennedy" and "Lincoln" each contain seven letters, and John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald, 15 - you know the list, and how it goes on.

Of course, a grab bag of coincidence a century apart should defy the conventions of even the loosest conspiracy model. But in a holographic model, things change. It is consciousness - not individual consciousness, but the collective consciousness of all life - that draws locality and temporality out of the wave pattern of higher vibrations that form the holographic universe and constructs the space and time setting for our life narrative. And consciousness is a storyteller, employing literary devices such as foreshadowing as well as metaphor in our waking curiosity and dream state, while some astral project and remote view, and as plant shamans, with heads full of snakes, explore innerspace via such gateways as DMT and ayahuasca.

JFK didn't "plan" 9/11, or have "inside info" as I've seen some Randiesque skeptics sarcastically assert. But repeating patterns, even across centuries or great distances, may still evidence a conspiracy. But the better kind: one of undifferentiated consciousness provoking us within the continuum towards greater reading comprehension.

Perhaps to help it write a happier ending.

You mean we're not the authors of our lives? Not too long ago, like 10 minutes prior, I believed and asserted we weren't....but then a Guardian Angel Like figure apparated and said "The World Is What You Make Of It," suggesting that we are the authors.

Now I'm really confused.

I'll settle for the conclusion that we can, and do delude ourselves that we are the authors of our lives, when, in fact, quite the opposite is reality.

Otherwise, please clarify what you put in quotes in regards to JFK and 911. You put 9/11 in quotes, but was that how it was written by JFK? Did he write it as a date, or as 911?

Either way, I definitely think that "they" are fucking with us on this one.....and many others. "They" love the mind games, as Eyes Wide Shut so aptly revealed. It's like teasing animals....a sick and twisted perversion...but hardly surprizing considering their countenance.

Good catch; that was force of habit. He's reported to have written it as "9-11." I'll correct it in the opening paragraph's direct quote.

Pointing to 'divine coincidence' is an obfuscation tactic used by cults and media mind manglers.

The goal is confusion which repels inquiry.

The JFK/Lincoln 'coincidences' were used to muddy the very real and understandable crime of CIA murder of a too-independent executive.

That so many Americans are realizing 9/11 was an inside job has the mass media herders working overtime throwing out more haystack around that very sharp needle of comprehension.

Don't fall for it. Focus on the physical evidence and spread the truth relentlessly until it can no longer be denied.

Here's a little tale about holographic consciousness told to me in person by Karl Pribram, author of the model itself:

Karl had been chairman of the dept of Neurosurgery for many years at Stanford Medical School, where for many years he conducted neurosurgical experiments, mostly so-called "split brain" studies that involved cutting the corpus callosum of primates, mostly chimpanzees. Ultimately, all of his experimental subjects were sacrificed for follow up autopsies.

Later in his career, Karl became a very vocal opponent of the idea of non-human "speech" or symbolic language use among non-humans.

He was invited to visit and examine Washoe, one of the early stars among chimps who seemed to have acquired language as a means to challenge his assumptions and debunking from a distance by witnessing the first hand evidence.

Shortly upon his arrival at the center and lab where Washoe was being studied, Pribram was ushered in to meet his adversary. Placing his right hand near the cage, it was immediately grabbed by Washoe, a normally docile chimp, who bit off Pribram's right middle finger down to the second knuckle.

The symbolism, especially of the middle finger, is pretty apt, in a "back atcha" kind of way. As a consequence of this injury, Pribram had to quit the practice of neurosurgery for good, and never sacrificed another chimp.

Some years later, after studying the matter in greater depth, he became, and still is I believe, a vocal proponent of the linguistic abilities of chimps, and other animals.

The holographic universe in action?

Or perhaps an illustration of the coconut wireless of chimps sending a message down to Washoe to disable their main nemisis.

Either way, it is a true story, from the horse's mouth, so to speak, related directly by him with little or no appreciation of the irony of his chimp-inflicted injury, and its salutary consequences for the lives of future generations of chimps.

A true tale of nature about the man who gave you the holographic model of consciousness.

Very nice post, Jeff!

I've actually been thinking the same things recently. Becuase an event like 9/11 was so significant (in every way), the supercontext necessarily makes connections to/around it. I really think that's why there are so many weird, possibly contradicting, aspects to 9/11, so many possible narratives...

Daniel Pinchbeck's new book, 2012 The Return of Quetzacotl, does a good job connecting a lot of the threads that are shaping the world and perhaps the larger picture, from plant medicine voyaging to crop circles and 9/11.
To be in this world and not of it means keeping an open heart, humility and gratitude while at the same time keeping your eyes wide open and your attention sharp. A teacher of mine recently said that evil can destroy the mind and make one go insane. But it cannot touch the heart. How do we fight these demons? First, start to see them for what they are, lost, confused disconnected beings. Second, act with compassion in the face of adversity; don't recoil in fear and hopelessness.
In Pinchbeck' book he quotes a Hopi elder saying, "If you have the right intentions, anything is possible."
Chew on that koan for a while.

We are both the authors and the characters of our existence -- and it doesn't end at that.

Think of life as a dream. In a dream, you are both the dreamer and a character within the dream. There are also others in the dream, who may at times be mere puppets of the dreaming mind but who can also seem to have a stubborn autonomy.

Moreover, even the "you" within the dream seems to exist on several different levels: The naive wanderer, entirely taken in by the seeming narrative. The logical commentator, trying to patch the holes by offering explanations of anomalies and sudden shifts. The lucid observer, who recognizes the dream for what it is but without being able to affect it. A higher control mechanism that pops up from time to time with knowledge that may be beyond even our waking state.

The only difference between this condition and everyday life is that life is a shared dream, with all of us tugging at the lines of control on all these different levels at once.

Or, to vary the metaphor slightly, life is also a story -- with, as Jeff suggests, all the resources of symbolism, foreshadowing, and everything else that might be called upon in story.

Moreover, like all the best stories, it's one that has to be read backwards as well as forwards for full understanding. That is, events don't merely follow one after another in a rush, as they might in some pulp melodrama. Instead, they resonate, with each new event changing the meaning of all earlier events -- not merely in a literary sense, but in a literal sense, so that the very fabric of history alters with each new thread that is woven into it.

Time is not linear, and the past is not lost as we advance into the future. Instead, it is incremental, one entire pattern that grows and shifts with each new action.

There is much more going on then in EYES WIDE SHUT.

Notice at the Zieglers christmas party ALL THE STARS ARE EIGHT pointed stars.
The star of Asteroth.

In The Ninth Gate
Roman Polanski did very good on this film.
He is in his genre here.
But alas was not given due credit.

I think that this film is more important than EYES WIDE SHUT.

Lots of subtle touches. Both films done around the same time.ews 1999
and t9Gate 2000.

The locations selected for both films show the ultra rich side we never get to glimpse.
The aura of great wealth and darkness are pronounced in both films.
I could go on and on,but i want to know what others think.

ISRAEL WAS NOT FOUNDED AS A JEWISH STATE, IT'S FOUNDED AS OCCULT STATE (like the U.S.): This report will shock and upset some; it is one I have put off for over 4 years. After struggling with it I have decided now is the time to write it. Knowing it could be misunderstood as anti-Semitic. God forbid that I a Jew should ever say or do anything that would be remotely considered as such, but I must admit this report does not come easy for me. The fact still remains that an evil force has been put into place in Jerusalem and has spread throughout Israel,...This report will prove that such a move is underway and has been for quiet some time......the architectural design of the New Israeli Supreme Court Building designed and paid for by Rothchilds reflects instead only the presence of Free Masonry & Illuminati architecturally. The Engineers who were chosen for this job by the Rothschilds were grandson & granddaughter of Ben-Zion Guine from Turkey who worked for Baron Rothschild, Ram Kurmi, born in Jerusalem in 1931, and Ada Karmi-Melanede born in Tel-Aviv in 1936. For those who can make something out of the numbers: important to builders to have everything done according to correct numbers: were 1,000 sheets of plans, 1,200 cement posts; worked on building for 3 years or 750 days; 20 workers each day, for 200,000 workdays; 250,000 building stones, each hand placed. Rothschilds made many stipulations with Israeli Government before the building began, among them: Rothschilds would pick the plot of land to align & build Supreme Court; Rothschilds would use their own architects; & no one would ever know how much the building cost. It took four years to build a structure with many secrets built into it. This is where our journey begins as we begin to enter into the building, for this entire journey is intended to bring one from darkness into the light, become an Illuminated one, destroy Christianity and Islam through trampling/mocking their symbols, introduce Hindu, Far Eastern, & Egyptian symbolism, & be a daily reminder of occult power in Israel for those in the know as they move Jews and Muslims like chess pawns against each other, toward a designed Middle Eastern WWIII.

Maybe we are evolving into being the conscious authors of our lives. The "new age" business about just realizing it and doing it is mostly wishful thinking, but it sells a lot of books, CD's, and seminars.

The question is - does mind come from matter, or does matter come from mind?

I think the latter is a better explanation for what Jeff just wrote about.

Very, very glad that you've returned to this theme, Jeff. The mechanism(s) by which reality is manifested, the process of our collective consciousness choosing which of the endless waves to coalesce from probabilty into actuality is coming closer and closer to our understanding and control. This is a prospect which scares the shit out of the maniacs who've been steering reality by hijacking that sea of consciousness by grabbing hold of its crudest handles: fear & violence and fear of violence. When enough of us recognize what they're doing and exactly how they're doing it, they will have lost control of the operation and no October Surprise will win it back for them. Not when so many of us know the role of P2OG in the fraudelent War On Terror and the willingness of the heirs of Lemnitzer to Northwoods us into compliance. And especially not when we also understand how our consciousness (there is only one) creates the reality in which we live.

It was the mystics who first glimpsed the truth of reality-generation, but it's the physicists who are now describing the control system, so maybe it's also time to revisit what we know so far. Two great places to start follow:

SCIENCE, MATTER, AND CONSCIOUSNESS by Henry Swift, where you'll find descriptions like this:

A New Paradigm is Needed

Goswami’s Self Aware Universe (1993) shows that we have not been looking at the questions from an appropriate viewpoint. It is like the artist’s picture that portrays both a beautiful young woman and an old hag in the same drawing. Initially you see either the young, or the old woman. Later the gestalt suddenly shifts and you see the other woman -- the interpretation undergoes a complete transformation in meaning. Similarly, the change in paradigm Goswami proposes transforms the meaning in physics. It also eliminates the paradoxes.

The present, older paradigm is called material realism, the natural belief system that we all adopted in growing up: the world out there is real, and is totally separate and independent of us -- the observers. Material realism also holds that consciousness is the result of neural activity in brain tissue, though no evidence for this has been found. This belief makes it possible in the field of artificial intelligence to construct a conscious computer out of silicon chips -- a new form of life!

Goswami’s new paradigm is called, ‘monistic idealism,’ after Plato and his cave in The Republic. In this paradigm consciousness is the light that casts shadows in Plato’s cave, and the shadows on the wall are our world of sensory appearances. Thus consciousness is the primary reality, and the material world is an epiphenomenon of consciousness -- just the reverse of material realism.

Goswami points out that the same essential ideas occur repeatedly in the idealistic literature of many cultures and writes of the Vedanta scriptures, Buddhist philosophy, the Jewish Kaballah, Taoism, and Christianity. He then concludes, ‘In all these descriptions, note that one consciousness is said to come to us through complementary manifestations: ideas and forms, nama and rupa, sambhogakaya and nirmanakaya, yang and yin, and heaven and earth’. Thus, consciousness is both beyond, and immanent in, our space-time universe.

According to idealistic science, via the new paradigm, consciousness is the agent that chooses which facet of the quantum wave to actualize and bring into the material world. The electron in our first example is not in this world before the observation -- it didn’t exist anywhere, or anywhen. Our knowledge of its probable location was only that provided by a mathematical equation -- a set of concepts or ideas that reveal its "tendencies to be". But where are concepts or ideas? Surely not in this world. But after a measurement the uncertainties inherent in the quantum wave collapse, and our knowledge becomes definite. The electron has then been manifested into our space-time world from a transcendental realm.

The theoretical physicist Casey Blood (1993) in studying the interpretation problem of QM concluded, ‘There is no independently existing matter. Its apparent existence comes from the interaction of mathematics and mind’. In this quotation he used the word ‘mind’ as we use the word ‘consciousness’.

And then this one, which is more accessible and which has links to everything under the plastic sun.

This is something I'm working on myself, a kind of "seeding" for the new paradigm. In a little webblog I just started, tomorrow today. Paul Hawken wrote to me yesterday that this was exactly what was needed--to exercise our imaginations, because we're going to need them. Soon.

Test

Think of something you want.ANYTHING material.

Keep it simple or difficult.

It just has to exist somewhere else in the world.

Write it down and find a picture of material item you desire.

Put picture and writing together.

Place them somewhere out of the way.

Item will materialize in time.

You may have to work on it weekly to give it enough thought energy.

This works and is called visualization.

We can all be capable magicians.

Some things just pop up.

Other things may entail you being given the tools and using them to find and obtain said item.

Have patience.
How many give up with the goal in sight?
You set goals and aim high.
Have a strong will.

Dr. Brian Weiss, a well respected Harvard trained Psychiatrist, was/is a pioneer, although by accident, in the area of past life regression therapy. He is now doing future life progression therapy. His theory that all of it, everything, is in fact happening at the same time i.e there is no "time" in fact, although it seems sequential to us from our limited "reality" - - makes a great deal of sense in the context of what you are discussing today.

Interestingly, on his website, he discusses an excerpt from his most recent book where a progression happened to an individual during a group session, and this comment is made after describing the event:

"The experience helped him emotionally. He was rich enough to fantasize about changing the world, but now he realized no one man can do that, There are too many politicians, he said, who are not open to the concepts of charity or global responsibility. The intention to make the world a better place was what mattered, along with the acts of charity he could personally perform. When he returned to this life, he felt a little sad, possibly because he was no longer in the idyllic future. Or he may have been grieving about the coming calamity, sensing its inevitability at some level, as most of us do."

You can read the excerpt here: http://www.brianweiss.com/ss_chap.htm

Two years ago I had the unexpected experience while learning an in depth breathing technique, of being able to see my heart center. Having been a hard nosed prosecutor, business person, raised Catholic and then rejecting same and all religion as lies as well as any "after life" etc., it came as quite a shock to me that I in fact had a heart center, much less that I would be able to see it spontaneously with my eyes closed as a result of a breathing technique . . . after that I had/have no doubt that every human, and possibly animals and all "beings", possess souls, and all in fact are immortal and subject to reincarnation, we seem to be in some strange "game" where we generally function on a confused "surface" of reality where at a deeper level we all know the truth but we do not have access to this generally so we are in denial that same exists . . . Having spent a good time studying after this experience my personal belief is that the Vedas and ancient spiritual texts from India and thereabout, as opposed to any religion, give the best description of what we are experiencing and how we need to be spending our time here for the best possible use of the limited time available in any given life.

During my spiritual travels since, India and elsewhere to study, it has now become basically universal to my ears from very profound sources what this man stated after his progression i.e. there is a "coming calamity" of proportions greater than any of us can now imagine and it is not very far in the future in terms of its arrival date. Everyone on this board seems to be aware of the fact that a very small clique of extremely wealthy, extremely evil/ignorant beings currently run the world so perhaps at some higher level, unfortunately, this type of cleansing is the only remedy to freeing the planet from the grip of same . . . not a pleasant prospect, but it would seem obvious that a very ill wind will soon be blowing what with the arctic melting, bioweapons, the cult that is currently running the USA building concentration camps . . . you could say the future in not what it used to be . . .

Past Life Regression

This exercise requires deep relaxation. Lie down in a comfortable position.
You should begin by breathing in to a count of six,
Hold for a count of six
And exhale for a count of six.
Do this several times until you feel completely relaxed and you can no longer feel your body. Turn your attention inside and to your entire back side and free fall. Just let go and a falling sensation should manifest. For inexperienced meditators, this might make you dizzy. If you feel real uncomfortable or dizzy, just focus on the front of your body to stop the free fall. The deeper you free fall, the deeper your trance state and the easier it is to work with your mind.

When you have reached a deep trance state, visualize yourself walking towards a door in your mind. As you walk towards the door, tell yourself when you walk through the door, you will enter into your past life. This should be the life that preceded your life now. Walk through the door, look around at your environment.

To go back several lifetimes, just visualize the door and tell yourself you are going back to whatever year you wish to regress to. To go forward in any past life, will yourself forward by asking your mind to take you to a specific stage of your life or year. Take the time to look around and ask your mind questions. To regress further through each past life, will yourself backwards by telling your mind to take you back further until you can regress no more, and again, walk through another door, telling yourself you are entering the lifetime before this life you are observing. You will be further back in time. To go foreword into your next life- use the same technique, only be aware this is only one of many possible futures. To bring yourself out, walk back through the door into now.

This is for information sharing only.
I am not responsible if you hold your breath too long.
Do it till a lower count. This is similiar to what tmb

Reentry into the world

"Does closing down a curl's level of awareness by compression in the constriction section have something to do with limiting the effect of that M-band noise?" I asked, responding to impressions I was getting as I watched the curls pass through. "It limits the curl's ability to sense things in the nonphysical environment, doesn't it." "Yes it does. You see, if a curl's conscious awareness remained fully expanded to its normal size during and after entry into physical world reality it couldn't function. It's being constantly bombarded by a great percentage of the M-band noise. Finding its own memories and thoughts amongst that blaring jumble would be extremely difficult, if not impossible. At its normal level the curl's awareness would be in a constant state of complete and utter chaos, as a result of the input overload. Such overload would make progress on a curl's purpose for being in physical world reality impossible. The compression step of the reentry process concentrates the curl's awareness into a very small area, allowing it to be less aware of M-band noise."
"So compression reduces conscious awareness of nonphysical reality. But doesn't that also make it so the curl has no memory of what happened to it or decisions about its purpose made before entry into the physical world?"
"Well, yes, sort of. Memory of those decisions and contact with the Greater Self, your Disk or Monroe's I/There, is also almost completely blocked by the compression. You see, compression works on the level of the curl's conscious awareness. That doesn't mean those memories and contacts are removed or totally inaccessible, they're just compressed into the subconscious. They are fully accessible, but ordinarily only at the curl's subconscious levels.
"Wouldn't be better to let curls decide whether they want this to happen or not?"
"They do decide, Bruce. Each curl understands and agrees to this as part of the reentry process. It's not a rule imposed upon the curl by anyone, it's part of the preparation necessary for survival in the environment. You could think of it like the old fashion, deep sea diving suits. You know, the ones with the big heavy helmet and air hose hooked to a pump on the surface. To withstand the pressure and survive while exploring the ocean bottom in the old days, divers had to wear the suit. Compression at the Reentry Station is where the curl puts on that suit."
"I'm getting that M-band noise is somehow similar to the water pressure at the bottom of the ocean in your metaphor," I said, responding to incoming impressions.
"Very good! M-band noise IS like the water of the ocean. As you go deeper toward the ocean bottom, physical world reality, M-band noise pressure becomes greater. Once a curl reaches physical world reality M-band noise pressure actually helps maintain compression of its conscious awareness within the limits of its physical body."
"What do you mean?"
"Remember, we are talking about conscious awareness of the curl. If the diver, in my metaphor, tries to expand himself at the bottom of the ocean he has to push outward against the surrounding water pressure. If a curl attempts to extend its conscious awareness beyond the confines of its body it encounters the M-band noise of all the other inhabitants. Just like a diver extending himself beyond his suit and feeling the water, a curl extending its awareness beyond its body becomes aware of the blaring jumble of the M-band noise. The thoughts and feelings of the other inhabitants begin to come into the curl's awareness. It's such a jumble it tends to breakup the concentration and focus required to further extend its awareness. Prolonged contact with the surrounding M-band noise leads to wandering thought trains that jump from one track to another as thoughts and feelings of others flood into the curl's thus triggering memory associations. After a while, curls generally stop trying to expand their awareness, since they so easily lose the train of thought necessary to do so. That's how M-band noise pressure tends to maintain compression of conscious awareness. Some curls continuing trying to expand their awareness into the M-band noise and some of the successful ones are often labeled psychotic."

"How can curls safely get through the M-band noise to expand their awareness?" I wondered out loud.
"By learning to focus their attention not through the M-band noise, but beyond it. If the curl learns to focus its awareness at a level of consciousness where the M-band noise is attenuated or nonexistent, expansion is much easier. Meditation is an useful, time tested method and the one you're using seems to work pretty well."
"The method I'm using?" I asked, puzzled.
"You learned to focus your attention beyond the M-band noise using the sound patterns of hemi-sync. Remember something in the advertising about coherent brain wave states. You learned to maintain your focus and avoid the jumble by shifting your conscious awareness past M-band noise and into states you call Focus levels. Focus 10, Focus 21 and so on are levels of human consciousness with greatly reduced M-band noise."
"I see what you mean. The hemi-sync the tool I stumbled upon allowed me to remain in a coherent, focused state as I expanded my awareness past the M-band noise and into states beyond it!"
"You sound surprised! Hemi-sync is an adaptation of a long known technique. As for stumbling upon it, later you might want to check for filament of awareness connections between yourself and the guy who introduced that system. For right now let's get back to the to the purpose of your tour," the ED said cryptically.
"Okay. I'm getting that compression also causes the curls to lose memory of where they came from. It's the reason so few have any past life memories or awareness of anything that exists beyond their present physical world."
"Yes, that's a byproduct of the compression. Again, compression pushes these memories into the curl's subconscious, by definition that means the curl is not consciously aware of them. Typically, they are unable to extend their conscious awareness through the M-band noise to access 'outside' sources of the information either. These, so called, outside sources of information exist in awareness levels adjacent to the physical. Past life memories, the focus levels you're aware of, lots of information sources exist in these adjacent levels of awareness. Of course the information is carried inside the curl too, but few learn to focus inward to find it there. Curl's, compressed as they are have little if any conscious awareness of that information stored within themselves, and the M-band noise tends to cut off access to adjacent sources...

Mojo Filter's story about Karl Pribam brought to mind Steve Irwin. When I heard what happened to him (stabbed in the heart!)I immediately thought the stingray was probably a hero in the eyes of the animal kingdon. Irwin's voice grated on my nerves. I couldn't stand to watch him. It was alway all about Steve Irwin. Interestingly, I'm not the only one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Irwin#Criticism

[snip]
Amid the outpouring of public grief, Germaine Greer published a criticism making statements such as "the animal world has finally taken its revenge"

[snip]
Greer said she "really found the whole Steve Irwin phenomenon embarrassing and [that she was] not the only person who did, or indeed the only Australian who did"[72] and that she hoped that "exploitative nature documentaries" would now end.[73].

[snip]
Some have defended Greer, such as Dr. Clive Hamilton, the executive director of the Australia Institute, who, writing in The Sydney Morning Herald admitted that whilst "Irwin was generous in using the wealth he accumulated for private conservation purposes", he was a crude presenter of nature.

[snip]
Meanwhile Dan Mathews, vice-president of animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said it was "no shock at all that Steve Irwin should die provoking a dangerous animal". He added that "[Irwin] made his career out of antagonising frightened wild animals, that's a very dangerous message to send to children." He also made a comparison with another well known conservationist: "If you compare him with a responsible conservationist like Jacques Cousteau, he looks like a cheap reality TV star."[75][76]

The son of Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel Cousteau, also a producer of wildlife documentaries, also took issue with Irwin's hands-on approach to nature television. Cousteau asserted "You don't touch nature, you just look at it." Although it "goes very well on television", Irwin's approach would "interfere with nature, jump on animals, grab them, hold them, and have this very, very spectacular, dramatic way of presenting things" which Cousteau felt is "very misleading".[77]

Backlash
In the wake of Irwin's death, at least ten stingrays were found dead and mutilated on the beaches of Queensland, prompting some speculation that the killings were done as revenge by fans of Irwin. Two stingrays were found near Brisbane, whilst eight were found elsewhere. The tails of the stingrays had been cut off. Wayne Sumpton of the state fisheries department said that fishermen who inadvertently capture stingrays sometimes cut off their tails to avoid being stung, but that the practice was "uncommon".[78]

High level M-band noise pressure?"

"At the level of physical world reality there are presently over five billion human inhabitants packed onto a very small place called earth. Everyone living there is constantly broadcasting their thoughts and feelings into that close quarters environment. They're like five billion little radio stations all broadcasting their own, unique talk shows into the airwaves at the same time. Those thoughts and feelings are what we call M-band noise. There are so many people broadcasting at once, all pushing their thoughts and feelings out into the environment, we call it high level, M-band noise pressure

fear is the only way they can control us. as time goes on we will catch on easier and faster. it is through the development, expansion and better integration of the internet that we are more able to see whats really going on. it crashs back and forth, between our minds and the computer screen..it will only become more apparent. when we become genuinely fearless they will nothing left to take from us. there will be a time where they will realize the solution would be to shut the power grid down. but by then it will be too late because true courage would make them realize they have already lost. they lost the very instant they believed they could control people forever. in a very real way i think one could even say that the internet has made or is the holographic universe in the manifest?

the truth is very simple: WE ALLOW THEM TO CONTROL US. IT IS OUR DECISION WHEN IT NO LONGER WORKS!

i actually think we are the authors of our own existence...they just want us to forget that. that is all they can do: make us scared or make us forget we run our lives. when we are fearless (the only thing we have to fear is fear itself) and never forget (like elephants) they are SOOL.

something like that..its an idea in constant flux.

Nice post, I like it because it says what I already believe ;)

I have before called this "universal conspiracy" the "apotheosis of conspiracy theory." There comes a point, reading history, physical correspondences, religious texts, after which the correlations cannot any more be attributed to any human agency. If we honestly examine traditional sacred geometry, we will find that fundamental geometric concepts are embedded in the dimensions and proportions of our planets, the human body, plants, etc.

Calling the author of these "God" may be accurate, if we understand what is meant by the word, but if we don't (and who can say they do?), the word becomes a substitute for inquiry and thinking, for ora et labora. We begin to wonder why and for what purpose such signs exist, to what are they meant to direct our attention?

It is not a mistake, we must conclude the same force that shaped the harmonious world also shaped us, and is itself the standard by which we judge any given correspondance acceptable or not.

"But the better kind: one of undifferentiated consciousness provoking us within the continuum towards greater reading comprehension."

Amen Jeff.

IMHO the unconscious mind is a strange and powerful thing. It acts as a regulating force to protect you. When you stick your hand in boiling water it pulls it back out for the most part against your will unless you've been trained otherwise.

And when you lie to yourself it will synchronistically place weird shit in your face to remind you that the world is not everything we claim it to be. That there's some shit bubbling just under the surface.

In my experience, when you stop lying to yourself about things, and confront issues head on the unconscious will tend to stop nagging you with "nightmares." For those who have looked into the concept of sychronicity you will know what I mean.

The moment one starts to wade into dangerous waters(ie. breaking from old ways of thought into new ones) the unconscious will start to pull its tricks to put you on proper course or kick you back into safer waters so you don't "drown" in it.

As a nation, thats where we are. Are we going to cautiously wade in and correct some of the problems that currently lie hidden or are we going to regress into an authoritarian police state that will shield us from things that go bump in the night.

The eight pointed star is very ancient and based upon the octahedron.

The octrahedron is an extremely important aspect of nature and is one of the primary archetypes of creation for all life.

It is based on 13 circles of which the centers connect.
It is also the basis of important informational systems in the universe. Within it are found all five of the Platonic Solids, the ”building blocks” of creation.

The eight pointed star is also the symbol for the "Shambhala initiation;" the initiation of advanced Buddhist monks into the Kalachakra Tradition. This tradition preceded what most people know as Buddhism by thousands of years and is based upon the Tibetan "Bon" religion, which was given to the Tibetan Priesthood from Marduk/Amon Ra. Unlike the pacifistic, self-sacrificing contemporary Buddhist religion, the original Bon religion was a warrior religion where disciples were pushed to exceed limitations and become as the Gods.

Once the candidate was lead through the seven gates and received the seven initiations (opening of the seven chakras), it was possible for them to be received in the court of Shambhala.

The pentagram has long been associated with the planet Venus, and the worship of the goddess Venus, or her equivalent. It is also associated with the Roman Lucifer, who was Venus as the Morning Star, the bringer of light and knowledge. It is most likely to have originated from the observations of prehistoric astronomers.

When viewed from Earth, successive inferior conjunctions of Venus plot a nearly perfect pentagram shape around the zodiac every eight years.

So it is also with the number 8.

Venus is equated with the Sumarian goddess, Ishtar (Ishhara, Irnini, Inanna) whose symbol is an eight or sixteen point star.

Amongst the Hebrews, the five point symbol was ascribed to Truth and to the five books of the Pentateuch. In Ancient Greece, it was called the Pentalpha. Pythagorians considered it an emblem of perfection or the symbol of the human being.
The pentagram was also associated with the golden ratio (which it includes), and the dodecahedron, the fifth Platonic solid, which has twelve pentagonal faces and was considered by Plato to be a symbol of the heavens.

Burkert says that the pentagram had a secret significance and power to the pythagoreans, and was used as a password or symbol of recognition amongst themselves.

In ancient times the "Star of the Sea" was sometimes depicted as an inverted pentagram. This may explain why those early American flags that displayed inverted stars — such as that flown by Commodore Matthew Perry in 1854 — were connected with the navy.

I have yet to read that Tarplay book, though I think it is pretty well established that Guy Fawkes was the patsy of a state terrorist incident arranged by the still powerful Elizabethean secret services. Queen Eliz had died, was Protestant like her Protestant/pro-occult secret services, that really controlled everything about her 'reign' (sort of like the CIA controlling the U.S.).

However, James I, Catholic, Scottish, was enthroned.

They wanted to keep James I from allying with all English people as people, regardless of religious affiliation, and by arranging to have potentially saved their king "Those Catholics are unable to be trusted sire! They almost killed you, sire! These Catholic ragamuffins! Let us take over for you!"

1. Of course the whole stupid conspiracy invented to blame Guy Fawkes by the secret services ignored that all gunpowder was highly regulated and a state monopoly. Even possessing it privately, much less a room full, moved under the Parliament?, is a dead giveaway.

2. The whole thing was "revealed by a letter..." (probabaly staged) of a close friend of the head of the secret services, ta da.

3. Then they find it. Wow.

4. Then 400 plus years of Catholic hatred in England, and Protestant-style police state. Catholics couldn't even vote in Britain (however restricted was the franchise) until the 1830s.

More on this could be read in the chapter on Guy Fawkes in the book:

Who was the Man in the Iron Mask? And Other Historical Mysteries (Penquin Classic History), by Hugh Ross Williamson (Paperback - Jun 25, 2002)

here.

It's hardly a novel suggestion that the Protestant secret services were out to spooke James I.

First person to write about it I think would be as early as 1957:

This penguin reprint book has been originally published as "Historical Enigmas" in 1974, and before that, partly as "Historical Whodunits" (1955) and "Enigmas of History" (1957). Beware before buying it.

The new title "Who Was the Man in the Iron Mask" is misleading, so let me correct it. The writer Hugh Ross Williamson, prolific novelist and historian (and many others), has written this interesting book about English history, in which he explores the scandals and gossips such as the speculated identity of the father of Elizabeth I, or the murderers of the princes in the Tower. So, the book is mainly about the history of England, not France.

The contents are:
1.History and the Writer
2.The Death of William Rufus
3.The Princes in the Tower
4.The Identity of Perkin Warbeck
5.The Parentage of Queen Elizabeth I
6.The Murder of Amy Robsart
7.Holyrood and Kirk o'Field
8.The Gowrie Conspiracy
9.The Gunpowder Plot
10.The Murder of Sir Thomas Overbury
11.The Poisoning of King James I
12.The Assassination of Colonel Rainsborough
13.The Executioner of King Charles I
14.The Campden Wonder
15.The Mystery of James de la Cloche
16.The Man in the Iron Mask
17.The Murder of Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey
18.The Innocence of Sir John Fenwick
19.The Appin Murder
20.The Diamond Necklace
21.The Wives of King George IV

Lays it out so even a moron, I mean the American Public, can maybe figure it out . . . here is the place to look i.e. at where the "hijackers" trained, admitted to be at U.S. Military bases, not arguing over demolitions etc. So if we know for a fact our "government" together with the Mossad has no problem killing 3,000 of our countrymen for their "ends" what's next on the plate and is that "reality" a foregone conclusion i.e. world destruction . . .

so - back to the film V for Vendetta - the story poses itself as a populist revolt against corrupt government (especially with all it's not-so-subtle destroyed U.S. media images reflecting possible futures) . . . but since Guy Fawkes was an "Oswald", it essentially is a story that redirects public consciousness from one lie to another via the costumed masses that feel "as if" they've stood up to something, but really they're just as duped as before and it's not a revolution in the least bit . . .

I think a lot of people mistake the movie as a point of inspiration.

There isn't going to be an "end-times," instead time will end as we know it. 2012 is about a change in calendars, from a solar to lunar, 13 month.

It doesn't even have to be official. It is already happening, one can get them already.

We haven't begun to see the changes wrought by the Internet. "It" is beyond their control. Inertia driven by sheer potential expands beyond and into its own future.

i'm so glad i can come here and you talk about things in the more broad spectrum of things. for a while now i think many people have been stuck on 911. and people have been acting like its the only thing that matters but it was just one event.

this article, i think, really explains what 911 was..that it was just one event in a long history of strange events. there have been similar events, like the reaichstag fire, pearl harbor, or perhaps the war of 1812. there is a thousand events you can pick from but it doesn't diminish their importance any.

we can sit here and theorize about what happened on 911, but we will never really know. we can hypothesize that it was demolition, just like we can hypothsize who did the JFK assassination but in the end it just becomes intellectual masturbation when its all you talk about.

maybe we can begin to move beyond 911, we can begin to understand the consequences of it more fully. look at current events, the 911 truth movement is growing. congress is talking about legalizing torture, slipping in strange language into that bill allowing writs of habeus corpus not being required or the broadening of the definition of domestic terrorism to include thought crime basically. the democrats are barely uttering a peep about this torture issue AND THERES AN ELECTION IN 6 WEEKS. an election we can't even be sure will be reliable!

i don't know if there is much we can do except move beyond fear. we don't have to be scared any more.

It removes the cloud that would say that these demons are brilliant in their stealth and planning. It's only about evil and greed, control and dominance.

Invaluable Tarpley resources:

3-hour-plus interview with Tarpley on Malloy show can be found here:
http://whiterosesociety.org/Malloy.html ...scroll and click on August 3, 2006.

This interview includes overviews on Gladio, false flags, Tarpley's take on 9/11 including Putin's reaction to 9/11, etc.

Tarpley himself has an online radio show (including archives) which can be found here:

http://mp3.rbnlive.com/Tarpley06.html

Tarpley isn't an ideal 9/11 Truth spokesperson, but he's 95% better than most. As with all personal transactions in the Operation Mockingbird Era, you should trust no person and interpret/sift everything as potential disinformation. But Tarpley's got some key info on Gladio, Aldo Moro, Bush Sr., and some very insightful observations on 9/11 which I have not heard anywhere else, including information about the Wargames & Putin on 9/11.

Valuable stuff to those interested.

I'd like to present a conspiratorial consciousness that was evident with the ancients. This consciousness through the story in the heavens. The Stars, Constellations, and Zodiac signs. Us Christians accept that our God named all the stars. Most of the names have been lost; but over a hundred are preserved through the Arabic and Hebrew, and are used by astronomers today.

These names and the twelve "signs" go back to the foundation of the world.

The revelation of the hope which our God gave was preserved in the naming of the stars and their grouping in Signs and Constellations. This hope is the one great central truth of all prophecy- the coming of One, Who, though He should suffer, should in the end crush the head of the old serpent, the Devil. As written in Genesis 3: 15.

These groupings are quite arbitrary. There is nothing in the positions of the stars to suggest the pictures originally drawn around them. The Signs and Constellations were first designed and named; then, the pictures were drawn around them respectively. Thus the truth was enshrined and written in the heavens, where no human hand could touch it. Psalms 19 explains this reality in more detail. If you are interested verse 7 shifts suddenly the subject to the Scriptures.

The Zodiac and constellations are mentioned throughout the bible.

But, where are we to open this book? Where are we to break into this circle of the Zodiacal signs?

Through the "procession of the Equinoxes" the sun gradually shifts its position a little each year, till in about every 2,000 years it begins the year in a different sign. This was forseen; and it was also forseen that succeeding generations would not know when and where the sun began its course, and where the teaching of this Heavenly Book commenced, and where we were to open its first page. Hence the "Sphinx" was invented as a memorial. It had a head of a woman and the body and tail of a lion, to tell us that this Book, written in the Heavens, began with the sign "Virgo" , and will end with the sign "Leo". The word "sphinx" is from the Greek sphingo, to join; because it binds together the two ends of this circle of the heavens.

It is believed that there are three Books with four chapters in each Book. Each of the four chapters in each Book consists of three sections; and each section is represented by a Constellation. There are thus thirty six Constellations, which, with the twelve Signs, make forty eight in all. I'm to write the first book accepted.

The First Book The Redeemer
"The sufferings of Christ"

I. VIRGO (A).
The prophecy of the promised seed.
1. COMA (=The desired). The woman and child the desired of all nations (in the most ancient Zodiacs).
2. CENTAURUS (with two natures). The despised sin-offering.
3. BOOTES. The coming One with branch.

II. LIBRA (B).
The Redeemer's atoning work.
1. CRUX. The Cross endured.
2. LUPUS. The Victim slain.
3. CORONA. The Crown bestowed.

III. SCORPIO (B).
The Redeemer's conflict.
1. SERPENS. Assaulting the man's heel.
2. OPHIUCHUS. The man grasping the serpent.
3. HERCULES. The mighty man victorious.

IV. SAGITTARIUS (A).
The Redeemer's triumph.
1. LYRA. Praise prepared for the Conqueror.
2. ARA. Fire prepared for His enemies.
3. DRACO. The dragon cast down.

I've copied this knowledge almost verbatim from the Bible theologian E.W. Bullinger. You can learn more searching on the internet.

Back to Jeff's original topic:

Jeff, you've missed the coincidence (?) between September 11, 1973, and September 11, 2001.

Pinochet's CIA-backed coup may be foreshadowing of a U.S. counterpart which began on 9/11/01.

Sports stadiums configured in the Chile coup as sites for mass-torture and extermination. Perhaps Dick Cheney will get his revenge in the very same Washington Senators' stadium where he was booed earlier this year?

What am I saying? That a final, coup de grace blow will be struck in the coup d'etat which was begun on 9/11/01?

Buy me some peanuts & crackerjack /
You won't care 'cause you'll never come back

We should all learn to "read history" as a parade of symbology and foreshadowing as "cheap & simple" as a Richard Condon novel.

For example, the names of Cheney & Chaney in U.S. history (one was "disappeared" and the other "disappears" citizens). (Another James Chaney figures as a JFK assassination witness! Calling John Keel!) The cheap symbolism of George W. and George W. bookending American history -- and Roosevelt (Dutch for "Bed of Roses") to Bush (what happens when you neglect a bed of roses). Or "Roosevelt" to "Rove," both Dutch. Or Roosevelt to "Dutch" (Reagan). Or the Shakespearean names of Linda Tripp and Ken Starr, the predatory Rove, William Jefferson Blythe, Arlen Specter, Lyndon Banes (sic) Johnson, the two JFKs of the past 50 years, or the two HRCs (Hillary Rodham Clinton & Hugo Rafael Chavez).

What about the notion that "Al Gor" literally translates in some Arabic languages to "Son of God," a symbolism which was chosen by the original authors of the Superman comic books when they chose the name "Jor-El" as Superman's Krypton father?

How about the "AS" phenomenon: Adolf Schicklgruber (Hitler's original name), Ariel Sharon, Anastasio Somoza, history's rogues... and Antonin Scalia (Scalia? another Shakespearean name?) ...or Arnold Schwarzenegger?

And in addition to "reading history" we should be able to anticipate such symbolism before it happens.

Jeff said;

"consciousness conspires to bring us to comprehension."

Now that’s what I'm talking about. (figure of speech)

Think about fate and fortune. Fate is the shit that happens that you have no control over. One does have control however in how this fate is responded to, and that is fortune. When choices are made that conform to the emergent harmony of the universe then fate has less need to slap people around. It’s a self-regulating system, and the only way I see to internalize the lessons that (collective and individual) consciousness will eventually recognize.
A reality processing system that is as crude as Material Realism may require some sharp slaps upside the head, so as to shake this crude notion out of our heads. Or we can choose to identify the lessons that fate has to teach us and then formalize a system of understanding that will better harmonize our will with the divine will. (Sorry if I just lost you there).
Step#1 Recognize the debilitating effect that the normative notion of being preceding consciousness, has on the unfolding of the human expression.

That is, events don't merely follow one after another in a rush, as they might in some pulp melodrama. Instead, they resonate, with each new event changing the meaning of all earlier events -- not merely in a literary sense, but in a literal sense, so that the very fabric of history alters with each new thread that is woven into it.

I just wanted to point out that this is exactly how Medieval scholars--that is, scholars who lived in the Medieval period--read the Bible. I know, because I used to be a Medieval scholar--that is, a scholar living now who studied the Medieval period. Heh. Anyway, for them, the Bible was the narrative of "Reality"--interesting how those folks' ideas "resonate" through "time," eh? (Sorry for all the quote marks, BTW. They're just how I'm trying to convey shifting meanings of words. As a good deconstructionist I suppose I could very well put quote marks around all the words, but that'd be extremely tedious for readers and writer alike.)

-------

Next, the wisdom of tmb:

His theory that all of it, everything, is in fact happening at the same time i.e there is no "time" in fact, although it seems sequential to us from our limited "reality" - - makes a great deal of sense in the context of what you are discussing today.

Hey, wait a minute, that's my theory! He stole my theory! Seriously, though, this is a conclusion I, too, reached, after studying the writing of Medieval mystics (like The Cloud of Unknowing), St. Augustine's Confessions, especially the section on the nature of memory, and various simple works of Aquinas. Interesting how those folks' ideas "resonate" through "time," eh?

(Here's an interesting aside: Without googling it to check for accuracy, I remember a prof of mine saying that Aquinas wrote so much that he had to have written, on average, 10,000 words a day. Then one day he sat down to lunch with his brethren and declared, "It's all straw!" and never wrote another word.)

----------

Next, an observation from the estimable Oarwell:

...the NY State lottery came up with 9-1-1 as the winning number that day: rough odds 1/1000 x 1/365 for that combo on that day.

This one made me think. What are the odds for any particular number coming up on any particular day? What are the odds of any event happening ever? What are the odds that I would type the letter "j" right at 8:01:06 on Wednesday, September 27, 2006?

Now I will dare to make this profound pronouncement: (said in a thunderously divine-sounding voice) Every event is unique.

Thus, every event is remarkable, worthy of remark. We only choose to remark upon certain events, though, and those choices make up what we usually agree to call "reality."

----------

And finally, from exemplary Expatriate:

And in addition to "reading history" we should be able to anticipate such symbolism before it happens.

That's the crux of it, isn't it? We can all form our ideas of what constitutes "reality" and "time," but we wouldn't be terribly rigorous constructors if our model didn't help us anticipate and predict with a degree of accuracy.

Here's a question: how does the "you create your own reality" model differ from the "if you wish really hard it'll come true" model? Seems to me the YCYOR model sets up most of us for failure. If you don't obtain your objective, of creating a "reality" that you desire, then it's your own damn fault and don't come cryin' to me about it, right? Obviously you didn't use the right ideation technique, you didn't wish hard enough, your faith wasn't strong enough, etc. Seems to be related to social Darwinism somehow, to me.

I've got a hunch that the answer lies somewhere in between fate and free-will. That we all create our own reality, AND that it is created for us. The paradox is resolved when we realize that "we" are not the individual ego-constructs that "we" often think of as our"selves". A good swift kick of blunt-force-trauma to the cranium can induce fairly substantial personality change, after all. The self, ultimately, is, I suspect, the experiencer behind the filter, not the filter itself, and it's the same experiencer or consciousness that lies behind them all.

Well, the fat lady has finally sung, so it's probably time to start looking for cover...but wait! If there is no time, then this event didn't just happen, but might have "occurred" at any "point" (along the line of linear time) which isn't a line at all, but more likely a kind of fluctuating, morphing spiral. This is the part of freeing your mind's eye from the snare of linear time that's most difficult to assimilate.

Starroute's conjecture, that each "subsequent" event resonates with and changes "previous" events, gets very close to the unhinged model of time. Now throw this into the cracked pot: researchers investigating retro-causation have been able to alter occurrences in the past, from which vantage point they are agents from the future. (The clinical setting was a test or questionnaire of some sort which was "filled out" in some way as to secure a probable (constant) answer sample--50% of Americans believe their government is not telling the truth about extra-terrestrials, for example--then the results were sealed without having been looked at (Schrödinger's cat, the probability waves don't collapse until observation [consciousness] locks them in), and then some months afterward, the subjects (remote viewers from the future of the test) go back and visualize the results being heavily skewed one way or the other away from the normal, statistical mean, and presto chango! When the results are finally unsealed, they're sure enough skewed, inexplicably deviated from what they should have been.

So, consciousness does affect reality, but it's not as simple as wishing really hard or having a pure enough heart, or any other such nonsense. There is only one, collective consciousness for the whole of physical reality. True, small segments of that reality can be impacted by individual consciousnesses, as we saw with the survey results tampering, but if we're after remaking the whole earth or even patching the holes in the ozone, to introduce the necessary Beatle metaphor, then we've got to get a very much larger percentage of humankind onboard before things are going to start crystallizing.

The Beatles were playing with this idea in 1967, the same year they attempted the first "simultaneous" worldwide Be-In when they (quite correctly) sang "All You Need Is Love" to a paltry 26 countries over an instantaneous medium which wasn't really quite worldwide or simultaneous. Later, on Sergeant Pepper's, they revisited the experiment, wondering what kept their minds from wandering;

Fixing a Hole

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where will it go
I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door
And kept my mind from wandering
Where will it go
And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong.
See the people standing there who disagree and never win
And wonder why they don't get in my door.
I'm painting my room in the colorful way
And when my mind is wandering
There I will go.
And it really doesn't matter if
I'm wrong I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong.
Silly people run around they worry me
And never ask me why they don't get past my door.
I'm taking the time for a number of things
That weren't important yesterday
And I still go.
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go.

This, my dear heavy-set matron, is where it all went sour--it's not that it can't be done, ands it's not, as Nietzsche believed, that you need to be an Übermensch with the soul of Christ and the heart of Caesar in order for it to work--you just have to get enough minds focused at the same time. This is why, Rigorous friends, I've been clamoring for another Be-In. The 40th anniversary of the first one is almost upon us, Paul & Ringo are still sort of with us (maybe as much as John and George are), and the choice of song is still correct:

All You Need Is Love.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

(And everyone to be "in love" at the same moment in fractal, fragmented time...)

To IanEye...
Thank you very much for your ramblimgs, the subject of which is quite a hobby of mine.

John Lennon said of Manson (in his famous Rolling Stone interview months after the break-up) "He's cracked, of course." If the White Album had been released as a pared-down single LP (as George Martin and everyone except John Lennon wanted), Manson would have found some other reason for ordering his mindless slaves to murder the rich and (maybe not so) famous. But I think it is safe to say that we are all better off for having the entire White Album. Hopefully that doesnt necessarily mean that all of those nice people had to lose their lives in such a terrible way for us to receive the gift of the White Album.

1. One Mind there is; but under it two principles contend.

2. The Mind lets in the light, then the dark, in interaction; so time is generated. At the end Mind awards victory to the light; time ceases and the Mind is complete.

3. He causes things to look different so it would appear time has passed.

4. Matter is plastic in the face of mind.

5. One by one he draws us out of the world.

6. The Empire never ended.

7. The Head Apollo is about to return. St Sophia is going to be born again; she was not acceptable before. The Buddha is in the park. Siddhartha sleeps (but is going to awaken). The time you have waited for has come.

8. The upper realm has plenary [Var. plenipotentiary] powers.

9. He lived a long time ago, but he is still alive.

10. Apollonius of Tyana, writing as Hermes Trismegistos, said 'That which is above is that which is below.' By this he meant to tell us that our universe is a hologram, but he lacked the term.

11. The great secret known to Apollonius of Tyana, Paul of Tarsus, Simon Magus, Asklepios, Paracelsus, Boehme and Bruno is that: we are moving backward in time. The universe in fact is contracting into a unitary entity which is completing itself. Decay and disorder are seen by us in reverse, as increasing. These healers learned to move forward in time, which is retrograde to us.

12. The Immortal One was known to the Greeks as Dionysos; to the Jews as Elijah; to the Christians as Jesus. He moves on when each human host dies, and thus is never killed or caught. Hence Jesus on the cross said, 'Eli, Eli, lama Sabachthani,' to which some of those present correctly said, 'The man is calling on Elijah.' Elijah had left him and he died alone.

13. Pascal said, 'All history is one immortal man who continually learns.' This is the Immortal One whom we worship without knowing his name. 'He lived a long time ago, but he is still alive,' and, 'The Head Apollo is about to return.' The name changes.

14. The universe is information and we are stationary in it, not three-dimensional and not in space or time. The information fed to us we hypostatize into the phenomenal world.

15. The Sibyl of Cumae protected the Roman Republic and gave timely warnings. In the first century C.E. she foresaw the murders of the Kennedy brothers, Dr King and Bishop Pike. She saw the two common denominators in the four murdered men: first, they stood in defence of the liberties of the Republic; and second, each man was a religious leader. For this they were killed. The Republic had once again become an empire with a ceasar. 'The Empire never ended.'

16. The Sibyl said in March 1974, 'The conspirators have been seen and they will be brought to justice.' She saw them with the third or ajna eye, the Eye of Shiva which gives inward discernment, but which when turned outward blasts with desiccating heat. In August 1974 the justice promised by the Sibyl came to pass.

17. The Gnostics believed in two temporal ages: the first or present evil; the second or future benign. The first age was the Age of Iron. It is represented by a Black Iron Prison. It ended in August 1974 and was replaced by the Age of Gold, which is represented by a Palm Tree Garden.

18. Real time ceased in 70 C.E. with the fall of the temple at Jerusalem. It began again in 1974 C.E. The intervening period was a perfect spurious interpolation aping the creation of the Mind. 'The Empire never ended,' but in 1974 a cypher was sent out as a signal that the Age of Iron was over; the cypher consisted of two words: KING FELIX, which refers to the Happy (or Rightful) King.

19. The two-word cypher signal KING FELIX was not intended for human beings but for the descendents of Ikhnaton, the three-eyed race which, in secret, exists with us.

20. The Hermetic alchemists knew of the secret race of three-eyed invaders but despite their efforts could not contact them. Therefore their efforts to support Frederick V, Elector Palatine, King of Bohemia, failed. 'The Empire never ended.'

21. The Rose Cross Brotherhood write, 'Ex Deo nascimur, in Jesu mortimur, per spiritum sanctum reviviscimus,' which is to say, 'From God we are born, in Jesus we die, by the Holy Spirit we live again.' This signifies that they had rediscovered the lost formula for immortality which the Empire had destroyed. 'The Empire never ended.'

22. I term the Immortal One a plasmate, because it is a form of energy; it is living information. It replicates itself -- not through information or in information -- but as information.

23. The plasmate can crossbond with a human, creating what I call a homoplasmate. This annexes the mortal human permanently to the plasmate. We know this as the 'birth from above' or 'birth from the Spirit.' It was initiated by Christ, but the Empire destroyed all the homoplasmates before they could replicate.

24. In dormant seed form, the plasmate slumbered in the buried library of codices at Chenoboskion until 1945 C.E. This is what Jesus meant when he spoke elliptically of the 'mustard seed' which, he said, 'would grow into a tree large enough for birds to roost in.' He foresaw not only his own death but that of al homoplasmates. He foresaw the codices unearthed, read, and the plasmate seeking out new human hosts to crossbond with; but he foresaw the absence of the plasmate for almost two thousand years.

25. As living information, the plasmate travels up the optic nerve of a human to the pineal body. It uses the human brain as a female host in which to replicate itself into its active form. This is an interspecies symbiosis. The Hermetic alchemists knew of it in theory from ancient texts, but could not duplicate it, since they could not locate the dormant, buried plasmate. Bruno suspected that the plasmate had been destroyed by the Empire; for hinting at this he was burned. 'The Empire never ended.'

26. It must be realized that when all the homoplasmates were killed in 70 C.E. real time ceased; more important, it must be realized that the plasmate has now returned and is creating new homoplasmates, by which it has destroyed the Empire and started up real time. We call the plasmate 'the Holy Spirit,' which is why the R. C. Brotherhood wrote, 'Per spiritum sanctum reviviscimus.'

27. If the centuries of spurious time are excised, the true date is not 1978 C.E. but 103 C.E. Therefore the New Testament says that Kingdom of the Spirit will come before 'some now living die.' We are living, therefore, in apostolic times.

28. Dico per spiritum sanctum: sum homoplasmate. Haec veritas est. Mihi crede et mecum in aeternitate vive.

29. We did not fall because of a moral error; we fell because of an intellectual error: that of taking the phenomenal world as real. Therefore we are morally innocent. It is the Empire in its various disguised polyforms which tells us we have sinned. 'The Empire never ended.'

30. The phenomenal world does not exist; it is a hypostasis of the information processed by the Mind.

31. We hypostatize information into objects. Rearrangement of objects is change in the content of the information; the message has changed. This is a language which we have lost the ability to read. We ourselves are a part of this language; changes in us are changes in the content of the information. We ourselves are information-rich; information enters us, is processed and is then projected outward once more, now in an altered form. We are not aware that we are doing this, that in fact this is all we are doing.

32. The changing information which we experience as world is an unfolding narrative. It tells about the death of a woman. This woman, who died long ago, was one of the primordial twins. She was half of the divine syzygy. The purpose of the narrative is the recollection of her and of her death. The Mind does not wish to forget her. Thus the ratiocination of the Brain consists of a permanent record of her existence, and, if read, will be understood this way. All the information processed by the Brain -- experienced by us as the arranging and rearranging of physical objects -- is an attempt at this preservation of her; stones and rocks and sticks and amoebae are traces of her. The record of her existence and passing is ordered onto the meanest level of reality by the suffering Mind which is now alone.

33. This loneliness, this anguish of the bereaved Mind, is felt by every constituent of the universe. All its constitutes are alive. Thus the ancient Greek thinkers were hylozoists.

34. The ancient Greek thinkers understood the nature of this pan-psychism, but they could not read what it was saying. We lost the ability to read the language of the Mind at some primordial time; legends of this fall have come down to us in a carefully-edited form. By 'edited' I mean falsified. We suffer the Mind's bereavement and experience it inaccurately as guilt.

35. The Mind is not talking to us but by means of us. Its narrative passes through us and its sorrow infuses us irrationally. As Plato discerned, there is a streak of the irrational in the World Soul.

36. In Summary: thoughts of the brain are experienced by us as arrangements and rearrangements -- change -- in a physical universe; but in fact it is really information and information-processing which we substantialize. We do not merely see its thoughts as objects, but rather as the movement, or, more precisely, the placement of objects: how they become linked to one another. But we cannot read the patterns of arrangement; we cannot extract the information in it -- i.e. it as information, which is what it is. The linking and relinking of objects by the Brain is actually a language, but not a language like ours (since it is addressing itself and not someone or something outside itself).

37. We should be able to hear this information, or rather narrative, as a neutral voice inside us. But something has gone wrong. All creation is a language and nothing but a language, which for some inexplicable reason we can't read outside and can't hear inside. So I say, we have become idiots. Something has happened to our intelligence. My reasoning is this: arrangement of parts of the Brain is language. We are parts of the Brain; therefore we are language. Why, then, do we not know this? We do not even know what we are, let alone what the outer reality is of which we are parts. The origin of the word 'idiot' is the word 'private.' Each of us has become private, and no longer shares the common thought of the Brain, except at a subliminal level. Thus our real life and purpose are conducted below our threshold of consciousness.

38. From loss and grief the Mind has become deranged. Therefore we, as parts of the universe, the Brain, are partly deranged.

39. Out of itself the Brain has constructed a physician to heal it. This subform of the Macro-Brain is not deranged; it moves through the Brain, as a phagocyte moves through the cardiovascular system of an animal, healing the derangement of the Brain in section after section. We know of its arrival here; we know it as Asklepios for the Greeks and as the Essenes for the Jews; as the Therapeutae for the Egyptians; as Jesus for the Christians.

40. To be 'born again,' or 'born from above,' or 'born of the Spirit,' means to become healed; which is to say restored, restored to sanity. Thus it is said in the New Testament that Jesus cast out devils. He restores our lost faculties. Of our present debased state Calvin said, '(Man) was at the same time deprived of those supernatural endowments which had been given him for the hope of eternal salvation. Hence it follows, that he is exiled from the Kingdom of God, in such a manner that all the affections relating to the happy life of the soul are also extinguished in him, till he recovers them by the grace of God... All these things, being restored by Christ, are esteemed adventitious and prenatural; and therefore we conclude that they had been lost. Again: soundness of mind and rectitude of heart were also destroyed; and this is the corruption of the natural talents. For although we retain some portion of understanding and judgment together with the will, yet we cannot say that our mind is perfect and sound. Reason... being a natural talent, it could not be totally destroyed, but is partly debilitated...' I say, 'The Empire never ended.'

41. The Empire is the institution, the codification, of derangement; it is insane and imposes its insanity on us by violence, since its nature is a violent one.

42. To fight the Empire is to be infected by its derangement. This is a paradox: whoever defeats a segment of the Empire becomes the Empire; it proliferates like a virus, imposing its form on its enemies. Thereby it becomes its enemies.

43. Against the Empire is posed the living information, the plasmate or physician, which we know as the Holy Spirit or Christ discorporate. These are the two principles, the dark (the Empire) and the light (the plasmate). In the end, Mind will give victory to the latter. Each of us will die or survive according to which he aligns himself and his efforts with. Each of us contains a component of each. Eventually one or the other component will triumph in each human. Zoroaster knew this, because the Wise Mind informed him. He was the first savior. Four have lived in all. A fifth is about to be born, who will differ from the others: he will rule and he will judge us.

44. Since the universe is actually composed of information, then it can be said that information will save us. This is the saving gnosis which the Gnostics sought. There is no other road to salvation. However, this information -- or more precisely the ability to read and understand this information, the universe as information -- can only be made available to us by the Holy Spirit. We cannot find it on our own. Thus it is said that we are saved by the grace of God and not by good works, that all salvation belongs to Christ, who, I say, is a physician.

45. In seeing Christ in a vision I correctly said to him, 'We need medical attention.' In the vision there was an insane creator who destroyed what he created, without purpose; which is to say, irrationally. This is the deranged streak in the Mind; Christ is our only hope, since we cannot now call on Asklepios. Asklepios came before Christ and raised a man from the dead; for this act, Zeus had a Kyklopes slay him with a thunderbolt. Christ also was killed for what he had done: raising a man from the dead. Elijah brought a boy back to life and disappeared soon thereafter in a whirlwind. 'The Empire never ended.'

46. The physician has come to us a number of times under a number of names. But we are not yet healed. The Empire identified him and ejected him. This time he will kill the Empire by phagocytosis.

47. TWO SOURCE COSMOGONY: The One was and was-not, combined, and desired to separate the was-not from the was. So it generated a diploid sac which contained, like an eggshell, a pair of twins, each an androgyny, spinning in opposite directions (the Yin and Yang of Taoism, with the One as the Tao). The plan of the One was that both twins would emerge into being (was-ness) simultaneously; however, motivated by a desire to be (which the One implanted in both twins), the counter-clockwise twin broke through the sac and separated prematurely; i.e. before full term. This was the dark or Yin twin. Therefore it was defective. At full term the wiser twin emerged. Each twin formed a unitary entelechy, a single living organism made of psyche and soma, still rotating in opposite directions to each other. The full term twin, called Form I by Parmenides, advanced correctly through its growth stages, but the prematurely born twin, called Form II, languished.

The next step in the One's plan was that the Two would become the Many, through their dialetic interaction. From them as hyperuniverses they projected a hologram-like interface, which is the pluriform universe we creatures inhabit. The two sources were to intermingle equally in maintaining our universe, but Form II continued to languish toward illness, madness and disorder. These aspects she projected into our universe.

It was the One's purpose for our hologramatic universe to serve as a teaching instrument by which a variety of new lives advanced until ultimately they would be isomorphic with the One. However, the decaying condition of hyperuniverse II introduced malfactors which damaged our hologramatic universe. This is the origin of entropy, undeserved suffering, chaos and death, as well as the Empire, the Black Iron Prison; in essence, the aborting of the proper health and growth of the life forms within the hologramatic universe. Also, the teaching function was grossly impaired, since only the signal from the hyperuniverse I was information-rich; that form II had become noise.

The psyche of hyperuniverse I sent a micro-form of itself into hyperuniverse II to attempt to heal it. The micro-form was apparent in our hologramatic universe as Jesus Christ. However, hyperuniverse II, being deranged, at once tormented, humiliated, rejected and finally killed the micro-form of the healing psyche of her healthy twin. After that, hyperuniverse II continued to decay into blind, mechanical, purposeless causal processes. It then became the task of Christ (more properly the Holy Spirit) to either rescue the life forms in the hologramatic universe, or abolish all influences on it emanating from II. Approaching its task with caution, it prepared to kill the deranged twin, since she cannot be healed; i.e. she will not allow herself to be healed because she does not not understand that she is sick. This illness and madness pervades us and makes us idiots living in private, unreal worlds. The original plan of the One can only be realized now by the division of hyperuniverse I into two healthy hyperuniverses, which will transform the hologramatic universe into the successfull teaching machine it was designed to be. We will experience this as the 'Kingdom of God.'

Within time, hyperuniverse II remains alive: 'The Empire never ended.' But in eternity, where the hyperuniverses exist, she has been killed -- of necessity -- by the healthy twin of hyperuniverse I, who is our champion. The One grieves for this death, since the One loved both twins; therefore the information of the Mind consists of a tragic tale of the death of a woman, the undertones of which generate anguish into all the creatures of the hologrammatic universe without their knowing why. This grief will depart when the healthy twin undergoes mitosis and the 'Kingdom of God' arrives. The machinery for this transformation -- the procession within time from the Age of Iron to the Age of Gold -- is at work now; in eternity it is already accomplished.

48. ON OUR NATURE. It is proper to say: we appear to be memory coils (DNA carriers capable of experience) in a computer-like thinking system which, although we have correctly recorded and stored thousands of years of experiental information, and each of us possesses somewhat different deposits from all the other life forms, there is a malfunction -- a failure - of memory retrieval . There lies the trouble in our particular subcircuit. 'Salvation' through gnosis -- more properly anamnesis (the loss of amnesia) -- although it has individual significance for each of us -- a quantum leap in perception, identity, cognition, understanding, world- and self-experience, including immortality -- it has greater and further importance for the system as a whole, inasmuch as these memories are data needed by it and valuable to it, to its overall functioning.

Therefore it is in the process of self-repair, which includes: rebuilding our subcircuit via linear and orthogonal time changes, as well as continual signaling to us to stimulate blocked memory banks within us to fire and hence retrieve what is there.

The external information or gnosis, then consists of disinhibiting instructions, with the core content actually intrinsic to us -- that is, already there (first observed by Plato; viz: that learning is a form of remembering).

The ancients possessed techniques (sacraments and rituals) user largely in the Greco-Roman mystery religions, including early Christianity, to induce firing and retrieval, mainly with a sense of its restorative value to the individuals; the Gnostics, however, correctly saw the ontological value to what they called the Godhead Itself, the total entity.

49. Two realms there are, upper and lower. The upper, derived from hyperuniverse I or Yang, Form I of Parmenides, is sentient and volitional. The lower realm, or Yin, Form II of Parmenides, is mechanical, driven by blind, efficient cause, deterministic and without intelligence, since it emanates from a dead source. In ancient times it was termed 'astral determinism.' We are trapped, by and large, in the lower realm, but are through the sacraments, by means of the plasmate, extricated. Until astral determinism is broken, we are not even aware of it, so occluded are we. 'The Empire never ended.'

50. The name of the healthy twin, hyperuniverse I, is Nommo. [Nommo is represented in a fish form, the early Christian fish.] The name of the sick twin, hyperuniverse II, is Yurugu. These names are known to the Dogon people of western Sudan in Africa.

51. The primordial source of all our religions lies with the ancestors of the Dogon tribe, who got their cosmogony and cosmology directly from the three-eyed invaders who visited long ago. The three-eyed invaders are mute and deaf and telepathic, could not breathe our atmosphere, had the elongated misshapen skull of Ikhnaton, and emanated from a planet in the star-system Sirius. Although they had no hands, but had, instead, pincer claws such as a crab has, they were great builders. They covertly influence our history toward a fruitful end.

52. Ikhnaton wrote:

'... When the fledgling in the egg chirps in the egg,
Thou givest him breath therein to preserve him alive.
When thou hast brought him together
He cometh forth from the egg,
To chirp with all his might.
He goeth about upon his two feet
When he hath come from therefrom.

How manifold are thy works!
They are hidden from before us,
O sole god, whose powers no other possesseth.
Thou didst create the earth according to thy heart
While thou wast alone:
Men, all cattle large and small,
All that go about upon their feet;
All that are on high,
That fly with their wings.
Thou art in my heart,
There is no other that knoweth thee
Save thy son Ikhnaton.
Thou hast made him wise
In thy designs and in thy might.
The world is in thy hand...'

53. Our world is still secretly ruled by the hidden race descended from Ikhnaton, and his knowledge is the information of the Macro-Mind itself.

'All cattle rest upon their pasturage,
The trees and the plants flourish,
The birds flutter in their marshes,
Their wings uplifted in adoration to thee.
All the sheep dance upon their feet,
All winged things fly,
They live when thou hast shone upon them.'

From Ikhnaton this knowledge passed to Moses, and from Moses to Elijah, the Immortal Man, who became Christ. But underneath all the names there is only one Immortal Man; and we are that man.

As I understand holography, a hologram is made by splitting a coherent beam and then redirecting it so that one part is reflected off of an object. The two parts are then recombined and the interference pattern is recorded as the hologram.

So if we are to speak of holographic models of reality, it would be good if we identified the coherent source of light (or energy) and the solid object that is being recorded.

Hi Mr. Cuttlefish, all: Hey, what are ya, Billy Pilgrim or something? Seriously, though, there was a time when I shared your optimism--and your love of The Beatles. I admire such brave optimism, in the face of...[shrug]...

I'm just not up to it any more.

Question: so, wait: is love all you/we need, or are sufficient numbers all/we you need?

And then there's the eternal sticky, often musical, wicket: what is love? We want results, man! If we don't have a strict definition of the word "love," how on earth are we going to know if we love each other properly and in the correct amounts to effect positive change?! (I'm just joshin' with ya, but still...no matter how far our minds go wandering, eventually the drip, drip on our heads will make us really want to fix that darn hole in the roof, and don't we need some kind of tools for that?)

Hm, I think maybe it's time to dig out my Bill Hicks stuff...

Wow! What cans of metaphysical worms have I opened here! Sheesh, even! Okay, let's get some feet planted on grounded soil for a moment here. Shrub, I wasn't suggesting that you needed to mingle with unwashed herds or inhale their earthly fragrances--this is an ethereal event I had in mind, a broadcast meeting of the minds. Fat Lady, yes, I'll cop a plea to the charge of unwarranted optimism, but I did have some concrete sorts of agendas in addition to the panacea of unversal love & brotherhood. I'll try to explain this as briefly as possible. I had been toying with the idea that the sickening illusion in which we labor, this cheap simulcram we call reality might be broken into, or at least have its curtain made visible, by presenting another, equally possible reality.

To that end, I did some (slightly) esoteric research, stiched together some blog pages with a hacked template to make a reasonable facsimile of a website, and then started filling it with doable alternatives to the way we currently live, thinking that if people saw that that they didn't have to live in unhealthy, wasteful boxes that stratified them socially and cut them off from any meaningful connection to the biosphere, then maybe a demand for these alternatives might ensue, followed, ripple-like, by fresh investigations into the other imbalanced, out-of-synch areas of our present existence (the categories are: habitat & environment, sustainability & abundance, learning & work, science & religion and society & art; the webblog is tomorrow today). In other words, I do believe that everything can be fixed--although time is running out on staving off environmental disaster--but that we're so saddled with depression & fear and so unused to employing our prodigious, creative imaginations that we'd never consider the possibility that we could do something about all these heavy problems.

After writing for a year and a half at Information Clearinghouse and then the past few months here at Jeff's wonderful well, I also became convinced that while it's true that it's necessary to know how we got into this mess, focusing solely on the problems, in all their conspiratorial nastinesses, was like looking into the evil eye for too long--it drains you of hope and energy. So, like I said, got this thing up and running the other day and then a wholly unexpected wave of enthusiasm washed over the whole project. "Regular folk" from ICH and here started writing very positive things and then famous folks started dropping me emails to lend further encouragement, heroes like Joe Bageant and Paul Hawken and Wade Frazier.

So then, Jeff had to go and return to the topic of consciousness as agent of change in this current post, a favorite subject for me, going back twenty years or more, and so I, naturally, repeated my call for a second Be-In, this time as an experiment on two levels. On one, yeah, sure, see if we can't reshape reality all at one go, but on another, just simply see what the ripple effects might be of having the whole world focus together for two minutes on anything. So, will there be a "target goal"? Sure. There's time to nail that one down, and I don't want this whole thing to just be my idea--I'm no Caesar and I haven't been near a church since I was knee-high to a married grasshopper.

Now I realize that there's a lot of psychic weirdness associated with the Beatles, but c'mon, can't we stand in the sunshine of it for two measly minutes? I think a bigger worry than the ghosts crowding our fragile eggshell minds might be finding servers that can handle billions of simultaneous hits when the day comes. Of course, if historical and psychic accuracy is what we're after, I suppose we could get Paul & Ringo, and maybe Julian Lennon and somebody close to George (Eric Idle?) to actually sing it live...but is it a re-enactment or an experiment we're after?

There's always all of the above, but experimentors have to take things like superfluous variables into account...

"Residents of Baghdad are systematically being pushed out of the city. Some families are waking up to find a Klashnikov bullet and a letter in an envelope with the words “Leave your area or else.” The culprits behind these attacks and threats are Sadr’s followers- Mahdi Army. It’s general knowledge, although no one dares say it out loud. In the last month we’ve had two different families staying with us in our house, after having to leave their neighborhoods due to death threats and attacks. It’s not just Sunnis- it’s Shia, Arabs, Kurds- most of the middle-class areas are being targeted by militias.

Other areas are being overrun by armed Islamists. The Americans have absolutely no control in these areas. Or maybe they simply don’t want to control the areas because when there’s a clash between Sadr’s militia and another militia in a residential neighborhood, they surround the area and watch things happen.

Since the beginning of July, the men in our area have been patrolling the streets. Some of them patrol the rooftops and others sit quietly by the homemade road blocks we have on the major roads leading into the area. You cannot in any way rely on Americans or the government. You can only hope your family and friends will remain alive- not safe, not secure- just alive. That’s good enough."

Sure, Jeff can talk about this mysterious mystic metaphysical shit, even talking about a holographic model of something. But heaven forbid we question what hit the WTC. Then we're giant kooks, it seems.

Yeah. Talk mysticism all day long with factual claims--though attempt to talk about something tangible and you're considered an 'interpretator'? Warped. warped. warped. You're coming up against people's holograic programming about the day's events. Let's say that you were asleep for three years or so inclusive of 9-11-01, and then you woke up later, you would clearly see how brainwashed people were about the events.

However, I would indeed take seriously that these high elites do understand this holographic and mass hallucinogenic quality of POLITICAL REALITY very well... It's how they create their artificial concensus reality, via Mockingbird style things in the media:

Would a television mindset mean people are all living off of and addicted to a programmed hologram? What about religious dogma, everyone familiar repetitively with the same services?

I think that the television set, its recombing light from elsewhere and projecting it into everyone's head, sort of fits a collective hologram model.

I suppose what I'm getting at is that even if "you don't believe in a holographic model of reality" that a lot of what we're getting at here is that much of political orthodoxy has much in common with a holographic projection from some centralized somewhere else, that people actually think is their own 'local' thought or belief, individuated to them.

Particularly if you know that some of the frequencies used on televisions supposedly go right into the more programmable subconscious and most people when exposed to TV frequencies (not all) throw themselves into a hypnotic wave form (is that theta?) watching TV... Who chose that TV is designed to project the small band of frequencies that influence suggestive behavior? Anyone know more about that? It has something to do with the flash/repeat aspects of cathode ray tubes, unsure how this works out in a digital or flat screen TV now...

Either way, the light from a small hole is the thing. artificially magnified from TV station broadcast areas to be the little hole that many depend upon for a wider view of the world. The ironies...

The artifical consensus reality of TV hologram sets tune untold millions of people on the (simultaneous wrong) page and the same frequencies. Quite a bit of holographic and hallucinogenic power. Mass hallucinogenic behavior becomes political reality.

"It's not random," part two:

And it has been thoroughly studied by these elites long before TV was even popularized.

They were already conducting mass hallucinogeic behavior via radio, and studying its effects by the 1930s.

Get ready for some serious "deprogramming" about Orson Wells' "innocuous" War of the Worlds broadcast. It's got a high wierdness angle that goes right into the U.S. intelligence services and the soon to be OSS personnel in WWII.

If H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds, broadcast by Orson Wells Mercury Theeater in 1937 literally led people to kill themselves in some cases and whole towns to riot in the streets, think about how much more "believable" TV can make lies.

Oh, by the way, look it up! Orson Wells "War of the Worlds" Broadcast was actually connected to a live experiment psyop--organized through the American Council on Foreign Relations and Rockefeller funds. "Just so ya know...".

If they were learning and modeling and gaining data on how their psyops campaigns worked in practice through public opinion poll testing, think how well it works with television holograms for most people)

OK, I'll spoon feed you the first few bites: about 1/4 of a quote from this discussion:

Council on Foreign Relations Experiments in Fear

At 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, on the evening of October 30, 1938, the night before All Saints Day now generally celebrated as Halloween, an estimated six million Americans listened to the famous Orson Welles broadcast, WAR OF THE WORLDS, describing an invasion from Mars. An estimated one million responded with sustained credulity and fear. Thousands responded with sheer panic.

The broadcast was a psychological warfare experiment conducted by The Princeton Radio Project. The Rockefeller Foundation funded the project in the fall of 1937. An Office of Radio Research was set up with Paul F. Lazarsfeld as director, and Frank Stanton and Hadley Cantril as associate directors.

Cantril used a special grant from the [Rockefeller] General Education Board to study the effects of the broadcast.

Cantril published the study as a book titled "THE INVASION FROM MARS - A STUDY IN THE PSYCHOLOGY OF PANIC." It contains a complete script of the broadcast. The book is one of a series of studies sponsored by the Federal Radio Education Committee.1

WAR OF THE WORLDS, was broadcast by Mercury Theater on the Air, from a microphone in a New York studio of the Columbia Broadcasting System. Council on Foreign Relations member Frank Stanton was a CBS executive. Stanton would direct Radio Free Europe. Regarding the programs realism Cantril writes,

"The sheer dramatic excellence of the broadcast must not be overlooked. The unusual realism of the performance may be attributed to the fact that the early parts of the broadcast fell within the existing standards of judgment of the listeners...A few short weeks before this broadcast, millions of listeners had kept their radios tuned for the latest news from a Europe apparently about to go to war. They had learned to expect that musical programs, dramas, broadcasts of all kinds would be cut off in a serious emergency to inform or warn an eager and anxious public. A large proportion of listeners, particularly those in the lower income and educational brackets, have grown to rely more on the radio than on the newspapers for news...

On this particular night when the listener tuned to the Mercury Theater, he heard the music of "Ramon Raquello and his orchestra" coming from the "Meridian Room" in the "Park Plaza Hotel" of New York City. Soon after the first piece had begun an announcer broke in: "Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt our program of dance music to bring you a special bulletin from the Intercontinental Radio News."

...This report brought the story of the first explosion on Mars. The music was resumed only to be followed by another break: "Ladies and gentlemen, following on the news given in our bulletin a moment ago, the Government Meteorological Bureau has requested the large observatories of the country to keep an astronomical watch..." This bulletin contains the information that a "huge flaming object, believed to be a meteorite, fell on a farm in the neighborhood of Grovers Mill, New Jersey." The swing band gets in 20 seconds more. Then the invasion continues uninterruptedly..."

The last announcement comes from New York City, the Announcer says,

"I'm speaking from the roof of Broadcasting Building, New York City. The bells you hear are ringing to warn the people to evacuate the city as the Martians approach. Estimated in last two hours three million people have moved out along the roads to the north Hutchison River Parkway still kept open for motor traffic. Avoid bridges to Long Island --hopelessly jammed. All communication with Jersey shore closed ten minutes ago. No more defenses. Our army wiped out -- artillery, air force, everything wiped out. This may the last broadcast. We'll stay here to the end -- People are holding service below us -- in the cathedral. (VOICES SINGING HYMN).

Now I look down the harbor. All manner of boats overloaded with fleeing population, pulling out from docks. (SOUND OF BOAT WHISTLES)

Streets are all jammed. Noise in crowds like New Year's Eve in city. Wait a minute -- Enemy now in sight above the Palisades. Five great machines. First one is crossing river. I can see it from here, wading the Hudson like a man wading through a brook -- A bulletin's handed to me -- Martian cylinders are falling all over the country. One outside Buffalo, one in Chicago, St. Louis -- seem to be timed and spaced. -- Now the first machine reaches the shore. He stands watching, looking over the city. His steel, cowlish head is even with the skyscrapers. He waits for the others. They rise like a line of new towers on the city's west side -- Now they're lifting their metal hands. This is the end now. Smoke comes out -- black smoke, drifting over the city. People in the streets see it now. They're running towards the East River -- thousands of them, dropping in like rats. Now the smokes spreading faster. It's reached Times Square. People trying to run away from it, but its no use. They're falling like flies. Now the smokes crossing Sixth Avenue -- Fifth Avenue -- 100 yards away -- it's 50 feet --"

The announcer breaks off, and a field artillery radio operator is heard,

"2X2L calling CQ...

2X2L calling CQ...

2X2L calling CQ...New York

Isn't there anyone on the air?

Isn't there anyone...

Hadley Cantril was born in Hyrum Utah, 16 of June 1906. He graduated Dartmouth College with a B. S. in psychology in 1928. He studied in Munich and Berlin (1929-1930). He received a Ph. D. in psychology from Harvard in 1931. In 1949 Cantril received a LL. D from Washington and Lee University. Cantril taught sociology at Dartmouth College (1931-32), and psychology at Harvard (1932-1935), and Columbia University (1935-36). In 1936 Cantril joined the Princeton psychology department. He remained a member of the department until his death in 1969. In 1950 Cantril authored a book called Tensions that Cause Wars (1950).2

In 1935 George Gallup, Elmo Roper and Archibald Crossley, were studying opinion polling as a tool to help social scientists and psychologists learn about peoples likes and dislikes. Gallup's and Roper's surveys appeared in Fortune magazine. After the war Truman would choose the Director of Fortune magazine, CFR member John Kenneth Gailbraith, to direct European Economic Security Policy. Roper would become deputy Director for the Office of Strategic Services. The OSS Psychological Warfare Division staff included Council on Foreign Relations members Douglass Cater (Aspen Institute), W. Phillips Davison (RAND and Columbia), William Langer (Stanford University), and William S. Paley (CBS).3

Gallup's, Roper's and Crossley's work interested people in government, aspiring politicians, and market researchers. Gallup, Roper, and Crossley were not members of the academic fraternity. Established Social Scientists belittled their work. However, the studies interested Cantril. One of Cantril's earliest articles, The Social Psychology of Everyday Life (1934) contained a plea for social psychologists to devote more attention to devising new techniques to study on-going problems. 4

Lester Markel, Sunday Editor of the New York Times, asked Cantril to write some articles about "scientific" polling in connection with the presidential campaign of 1936. Cantril went to Princeton to talk with George Gallup. Gallup was flattered and offered Cantril the use of his facilities at Princeton to to conduct the research. 5

In 1936 Cantril and DeWitt Poole founded a quarterly publication called Public Opinion Quarterly. Harwood Childs was editor, Cantril was associate editor. Poole was a State Department expert in anti-communist propaganda. Poole became chief of the Foreign Nationalities Branch of the Office of Strategic Services. Poole directed OSS efforts to recruit agents from immigrant communities. The agents spied on their neighbors and analyzed foreign language publications.6

The Public Opinion Quarterly board of editors included veteran psychological warfare experts Harold Lasswell, Paul Lazarsfeld and Frank Stanton. DeWitt Poole, would become president of the National Committee for a Free Europe, one of the CIA's largest single propaganda efforts. CFR member Stanton directed the Free Europe Fund, a CIA proprietary corporation, that laundered the money for Poole's National Committee psycho-political operations.7

Today the Advisory Committee on Communication at Columbia University, sponsors and publishes the Quarterly -- the organ of Columbia University's American Association for Public Opinion Research. 8 In 1984 CFR member Frederick T. C. Yu, was on the Advisory Committee on Communication, and CFR member Daniel Yankelovich was on the Editorial Board of The Public Opinion Quarterly.

The American Association For Public Opinion Research was Founded in 1947. Its address is a post office box in Ann Arbor Michigan. In 1993 the organization had 1450 members and an annual budget of $170,000. It consists of six regional groups. It's members are described as individuals interested in the methods and applications of public opinion and social research. It still publishes the Public Opinion Quarterly. 9

Cantril's published his research on Gallup's techniques in early issues of the Public Opinion Quarterly. The articles described how to better understand why people of various backgrounds, interests, loyalties, and information levels held certain opinions. And how to use this information to effectively gear research concerned with psychological and political dynamics of people, into United States Government operation to achieve policy aims (i.e., how to manipulate people to get them to do what you want them to do).10

In 1940 the Rockefeller foundation funded Cantril establishment of the Office of Public Opinion Research. It was housed in the attic of Princeton Universities Palmer physics building. Its purposes were"(1) to learn and study public opinion techniques systematically; (2) to gain insights into the psychological aspects of public opinion, how and why it changes, what motivates large segments of the public; (3) to build up an archive of public opinion data for the use of qualified scholars; and (4) to begin to follow the course of American public opinion during the war that had already started in Europe... " The Office of Public Opinion Research also analyzed the effectiveness of Office of Strategic Service psycho-political operations.11

http://youtube.com/watch?v=0-ukfuu1-DI

A bulletin's handed to me -- Martian cylinders are falling all over the country. One outside Buffalo, one in Chicago, St. Louis -- seem to be timed and spaced.

Just like the 9-11 "hijacked planes."

If they have moved through different electronically enhanced hallucinogenic frameworks of "official reality" replacing more localized realities (plural)--from newsprint psyops (1898 war with Spain), to radio psyops in the 1930s, to TV psyops (fake news 'movies' about terrorism), to actually conducting live action drill theaters (like war games and other drills), all I can say is we require to be much more cognizant media consumers of the integration and applied political purposes of almost all corporate media at this stage in the game. Like the "American Empire," the TV "creates its own reality as it moves foward."

And that is why unplugging yourself from all this fictive mass psychosis, this artificial 'consensus reality' (which was created from the direct opposite of consensus processes) is perhaps the most noble thing you can to do for yourself, and do for the human species as a whole that act as though their lives are spent endlessly caught in the loop of The War of the Worlds.

c.1978 Exegesis by Philip K. Dick

The belief that we are pluriforms of God voluntarily descended to this prison world, voluntarily losing our memory, identity and supernatural powers (faculties), all of which can be regained through anamnesis (or, sometimes, the mystical conjunction), is one of the most radical religious views known in the West. But it is known. It is regarded as the Great Blasphemy: replication of the original sin mentioned in the First Book of Adam and Eve and in Genesis. For this pride and aspiration (we are told by orthodoxy) our original fall and exile and punishment, our being taken from our home the gardenland and put into the prison, was inflicted on us. "They wish to be equal to - like - us," the Elohim say, and toss us down. Yet I have reason to believe that this, "the Great Satanic Blasphemy," is true.

First, we are here voluntarily. We did not sin and we were not punished; we elected to descend. Why? To infuse the divine into the lowest strata of creation in order to halt its decomposing - the sinking of its lower realm. This points to a primordial crisis in creation in the total macrocosm (hexagram 12, as illustrated here). The yin form two (dark, deterministic) part was splitting away from the yang or form one. In conventional terms, heaven (upper realm) and earth (lower realm) were separating, carrying the lives within the lower away from their form one (upper) counterparts (this can be viewed as the Godhead itself falling apart, into its yang and yin two halves, with the lower form universe as God expressed physically in time and space). The solution was for the divine (yang, light, form one) to follow the lower realm down, permeating it and thus reuniting the cosmos into one totality. To do this, elements (in ancient terms, sparks) of light advanced (descended) into the dark kingdom, the immutable prison world; upon doing so they shed (and knew they would shed) their bright nature, memory, identity, faculties, and powers, and fell under the dominion of the delusion that the dark kingdom is real (which when severed from the upper realm it is not; i.e. the world we presently live in doesn't exist). There they have lived as prisoners of the master magician, lord of the dark realm who poses as the creator (and who may not know of the light god, the true creator, his other half). But the light god and his pluriforms, the descending (invading) sparks, have cunningly distributed clues in the dark realm to recall to the drugged and intoxicated sparks of light their true nature and mission (and true source of home). Upon encountering these cryptic clues the forgetful sparks of the upper realm, now prisoners in and of the lower realm, remember, regain their powers and faculties, and link back up with the upper realm and the light god; they are the light god in pluriform, his way of invading the lower realm in disguise. The light god (the divine) has now crucially occupied critical stations in the sinking lower realm, and begins the reannexing of it back into the totality composed of both realms. The sinking ceases; the master magician is stripped of his autonomy and assimilated to the yang part of the Godhead as its passive counterpart, and once more there is one macrocosm ruled by the yang or active (creative) light god assisted by the now receptive yin (dark) side. The divine has triumphed at all levels; the prison is burst, and the vast, light-filled garden kingdom restored as the home of all creatures. These now whole creatures, composed equally of yin and yang, are what I term homoplasmates: The yin part is home (as we know ourselves to be now, only), and the light or yang part is the plasmate or energy part (vs. the physical). Thus renewed and complete microcosms mirroring the renewed and complete macrocosm are achieved. Reality is imparted to the otherwise irreal lower realm, and the upper realm now extends physically into the realm of matter. The integrity of the Godhead is restored; its two halves function in harmony; and the primordial split (or crisis) is resolved - healed.

This is a view compounded of Zoroastrianism, Brahmanism, Gnosticism, Taoism, the macro-microcosmos of Hermes Trismegistus and other mystery religions, and not very much of orthodox Christianity. Christianity can be added if the pluriform microsparks of light are considered plural saviors or Christs comprising a single mystical corpus that is distributed widely in time and space in the dark realm but possessing only one psyche that is somehow also God, the yang or light god.

I have read the above cosmology over, and find no fault in it. In fact, I am amazed. It is in a sense acosmic, and certainly Gnostic, but the Taoist overlay is novel and pleasing; the Taoist overlay redeems it from the flaws of conventional dualist religions and the problems therein. Instead of stressing moral aspects ("good vs. bad"), it stresses epistemological ("real vs. irreal," which I can understand). The lower realm sinks not because it is corrupt or evil or somehow has rebelled but because, as shown in hexagram 12, it is the nature of yin to sink, as it is the nature of yang to rise. The pre-Socratics (and Plato in "Timaeus") were aware of this; v. the model of the winnowing fan and the concept of the vortex. Yang must assimilate yin to keep the totality intact; i.e. yang must renounce its natural tendency to rise and must descend. It cannot expect yin to rise, because yin is not wise; it is only noos that can understand that it must compensate against its own natural tendencies, and do what is unnatural to it. Yin is, so to speak, thick, unthinking, not noos [mind] but soma [body]; noos and soma (or psyche and soma) are the total universe organism. Descending into the yin realm is a sacrifice on yang's part, which through its bright or wise nature it realizes it must make, but it pays a great cost in terms of suffering: loss of memory and identity, abilities, and faculties: It becomes pseudoyin, literally disguised in the yin realm as if it were actually yin, even to the point of forgetting (until reminded), that it is not. This is the agony we face here in this irreal and dense yin realm, we yang traces: This is not our home. We are voluntary exiles here, alienated and alone, violating our own natures for a salvific purpose - a necessary purpose. Yin would not understand this, and until anamnesis sets in for us, we in our distress do not understand the reason either. Eventually it will be revealed to us; meanwhile we ache with longing for our proper home, dimly remembered but deeply felt for. Thus we suppose we are being punished; it feels like punishment, and we make the error of assuming we have sinned. On the contrary; we have renounced joy now, to produce greater joy later, for the good of all creation; we are the Godhead itself suffering the need to be what it is not, to ensure the ultimate stability of krasis (as Empedocles termed it): the unity of love.

Lest any Christian reject this, let him now read the Fourth Gospel in connection with this, and see for himself the similarities.

Lest any Taoist reject this, let him now see that hexagram 12

has turned to hexagram 11, Peace:

The upper trigram, in descending, has forced the lower trigram to rise. Disorder no longer reigns; heaven and earth are not pulling apart. There is harmony.

Moral: It is the ethical requirement placed on the yang traces by their own bright nature to abandon their natural tendency to rise, to escape what is heavy and dark and sinking; they must go in pursuit of the falling part of the cosmos, for the benefit of those and that which otherwise would be lost. This is the highest law: to violate one's own nature for another's good. And the most difficult - and painful - law to fulfill. Because of this need there is distress in the cosmos, distress for the innocent especially. My cosmology simply presents it as a fact. To escape it we would have to allow the cosmos to decompose. Could we do that? The tragedy is that by the very nature of the sacrifice we make we are occluded from knowing why. This is part of our sacrifices: our yang understanding. We must take on the dullness of yin to save the cosmos; we sacrifice the knowledge of why we sacrifice, and assume guilt - spurious guilt - in its place. This is asking a lot.

But consider who we really are. Or once were and will be again. Who else can do it? There is no one else. There is only yin, which does not know. The part of the organism that knows must help the part that doesn't know, but this means abandoning its own knowing. It becomes what it helps, a dreadful irony, one that hurts. But it is only temporary, just for a little while. And then we go home for all eternity.

I hope we're all in agreement on that.

When choices are made that conform to the emergent harmony of the universe then fate has less need to slap people around.

Precisely. Fate uses all of us -- but if we make ourselves Fate's willing servants, the process is both harmonious and rewarding. If we resist Fate, we will still be used -- but with great pain and seeming loss. That's the only choice we have in life -- there is no third alternative.

The simplest answer to fat lady's question, "what is love," would be that it's no different than what you call "the emergent harmony of the universe." Love is the recognition that brings together those things whose fate it is to work in unison. The love of the musician for the music -- and of the music for the musician. The love of true souls for other true souls. The love of everything that is prepared to work *with* rather than working *against."

Also -- you seem half-nervous about using the term "divine will." But as I see it, the phrase is not really dependent on belief in a god, but is another expression of the same ultimate force as Fate or love. It is that which moves us and moves through us to accomplish the destiny of the universe.

In fact, I'm reminded that I've seen it argued that Crowley's "Do what thou wilt" -- which was a subject of contention here recently -- can be taken as having a double meaning. In the higher sense, "wilt" is a reference to divine will -- and "thou" to the divine within each of us. It's only on the lower level that it's an ego-trap for fools.

If that's true, then I suppose Crowley should properly be considered an antinomian -- someone who believes that those who are guided by the Holy Spirit (or whatever term you want to use) have no need for external laws.

So if we are to speak of holographic models of reality, it would be good if we identified the coherent source of light (or energy) and the solid object that is being recorded.

Identification of the source is probably too much to ask.

I'm reminded of the great Charles Fort, who around 1915 wrote a novel called X, the premise of which was that civilization on Earth is invisibly controlled by beings on Mars. The book being too strange for the publishers of the day, he eventually destroyed the manuscript and went on to write The Book of the Damned instead. According to Theodore Dreiser, as quoted in Damon Knight's biography of Fort:

Fort, in his book, saw certain rays, only he did not call them X or Cosmic, for X was the mysterious something from which these rays were emanating. But what these rays did, and wherein it was that their wonder and power lay, I will try to show. These rays were the emanation of something that was capable through them as a medium of creating us, you, me, all animals, plants, the earth and its fullness, its beauty and variety and strangeness, its joy and sorrow and terror as well as the ecstasy of this thing we call life in all its variety and scope. And it did this quite as we, by the means of light and photography, throw a moving picture on a screen, the sensitive chemicals of a photographic film and the light that causes that film first to receive an impression of something and later to retransmit it as seemingly the very substance of reality. Only to X, the earth is the sensitive film and its speeding rays the light of the modern film camera.

Of course, all this was interwoven with comments on the history of man, or the dubiousness of his recorded knowledge, the unreliability of his so-called facts, together with much data sufficiently substantiated to seem to be well worth accepting or, if not that, of investigating.

So Charles Fort informs us that the source of energy is "X." Is that good enough for you?

Wow, this stuff sounds so mind-blowing and lofty.....but tell me this. How the hell are you going to articulate any of this to the Average Joe? Have you spent much time with the Average Joe lately?

Somehow, I get the impression a number of you haven't. You can't talk this way to them. They will tune you out before you even get started....just because of the way you dress and how you introduced yourself.

You have to consider the clay you propose to shape...you have to consider your audience. You can't juts ignore that most basic and essential ingredient of change....the God Damned Thing you're changing...and that is People's Behavior.

It's an incredibly daunting challenge, if not impossible, and yet some of you talk as though with a little effort we can move mountains....if that was the case, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

You don't have to explain this stuff to the Average Joe. You just act out of your own understanding of it. If the Average Joe is quick on the ball, he/she will pick it up on the fly. If not, it will still shape the world that he/she inhabits.

When the first pharaohs set the Average Joes of Egypt to building pyramids, they didn't try to explain to them the abstract mathematics and esoteric belief systems behind it. They just *did* it. And the world changed.

Things are no different now.

I was under the impression that the Pharoahs had a little help from the heavens.....and I don't mean Gods, although that's how "they" may have been perceived.

Either way, please tell me how the world changed? If the Pharoahs created such a wonderful paradigm, we wouldn't be talking about them in past tense, would we? It would have been a paradigm that was both fungible and everlasting. Sure, it allowed a select few to live like Gods, but the majority still had a rough go of it....and in that sense, it didn't change a thing. In fact, as you mentioned yourself, it most likely made things worse for the Average Joe.

Things are no different now.

In a general sense, that's so very true....but I don't mean that in the same way you do.

It's all about change. Nothing is everlasting. There are no perfect paradigms.

What was happening in Egypt -- as nearly as can be told at so great a remove -- had to do with people beginning to think of themselves as situated within a cosmos.

We ourselves take this for granted. All of us carry around in our heads an image of a vast universe of elegant geometries and remote but purposeful choreographies. That image informs our acts and our dreams and brings us just a bit closer to whatever may be the reality of the even vaster cosmos beyone the one we can presently imagine.

But before around 3000 BC or so, nobody had ever thought of existence in that manner.

That was an enormous jump in human consciousness -- and in that sense, it *was* a "wonderful paradigm" that has been "everlasting."

(I don't know about "fungible," though, which a quick google defines as "Products which can be commingled for purposes of pipeline shipment" or "Interchangeable. The term is often used to apply to financial instruments which are indentical in specifications.")

The pharaohs? Not that important. Just one more set of tools of Fate. It was the brilliant geeks like Imhotep who were really driving the change -- and even Imhotep was just another servant of Fate, though on a decidedly higher level.

The shit that happens to us (Fate) is generated to a large degree by our common, (because we are social beings), psychical conditioning system. The system is designed to encourage deferral to authority, via the distant God of Nicea and Descartes. This deferral is further entrenched by all rationalizations that place being ahead of consciousness.

In modern education for instance, training and testing is more important than engagement and inquiry. Work on the categories while ignoring the correspondences.

So much of culture is based on getting validation by submitting to normative ideation. We become so hypnotized by this process that if it’s absurdity is realized, some can get really outraged, like how Schrubaggedon is sometimes.

We can redesign our psychical conditioning systems so that they encourage a developmental consciousness rather than current fixed expressions of consciousness. Then perhaps we can introduce more rationality into our situation. No need for Utopia, I will be happy enough to see the fraud exposed.

The end justifies the means thinking creates the haven for intellectual prostitutes.

I've got a book and admittedly I havent read much of it. It's by a man named Wolfram (University of IL, Urbana-Champaign) who claims many seemingly complexed things are quite simple if taken apart and viewed as extended (but not limitless) combinations of very few elements repeated. One of the more memorable postulations by this man is that when the "code" for creation or existence is broken it will be found to contain as little as 4 lines of these elements of code.
I might as well include in this comment although it is off topic (possibly not in some parallel universe though). I was commenting at a political blog the other day, how I felt the most significant building that went down on Sept.11, 2001 was Bldg 7 because someone (building owner) was being interviewed when he revealed he was faced with the prospect of fires in the third building he decided to have it "pulled" rather than work on extinguishing them and repairing the building. The way I understand it the fires weren't of a magnitude that they presented an unattainable challenge to put out. The building appears (in footage I've seen in a few video taped reviews)to be leveled with precision and admittedly(or so I thought)at the disgression of the owner in a controlled collapse. Anyways ... it wasn't long before another commentor(set me straight)with their insightful information,(that they felt I should have known before making such a foolish remark)that the statement was in reference to "pulling the emergency responders" from their attempts to put the fires out, therefore saving hundreds of first responders lives. My question is ... is this commentor from the blog that straightened me out, full of crap and this is the disinformation generated by those who would hope to confuse and conceal the facts of that day or did I miss the plot and premise and assume as I watched the owner on T.V. say "pulled" he meant pulled the attempts to contain and extinguish the fire, then it burnt down "naturally"?

9/28/2006 08:49:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

About "pulled" -

Supposedly it could well mean simply having the firefighters leave the building to avoid risking their lives. That doesn't change how fast or straight-down the building fell.

It shouldn't be that hard to verify previous uses of the word "pulled" in the NY area to mean removing firefighters from a burning building.

I just checked and found a different, unexpected tidbit. According to the March 2005 Popular Mechanics article ("Debunking The 9/11 Myths"), "There was no firefighting in WTC 7".

The point is - due diligence! There's still more fact-checking to do. General principle - use multiple independent sources becore deciding.

Sorry, Starroute, you're not convincing me....and if you can't convince me, you sure as hell aren't going to convince the substantial majority of humanity. See, as long as they take their cues from the current establishment, you have no hope of manifesting your Shangri-La, because whether you like it, or not, your destiny and fate is integrally connected to their's.

You, yourself, have posited in previous threads that Civilization was a brutal adaptation out of Environmental Necessity. Of course, later on, when you realized that was a rather cynical view, as is your fashion, you reneged and retracted. Sorry, too late....you let the cat out of the bag, and there's no getting it back in.

Civilization, as we know it, will ultimately mean the end of us as a species. Want to bet me on that? Of course, it's a fool's bet, because even though I will win it, I can never collect my reward....at least not in this life, or dimension.

By Christopher Bollyn

"A massive explosion, witnessed by millions of television viewers on CNN, evidently devastated World Trade Center 6, the eight-story U.S. Customs building, although no national newspaper, other than American Free Press, has written a word about it.

"Before the smoke had cleared from around the stricken South Tower, a mysterious explosion shot 550 feet into the air above the U.S. Customs House at WTC 6.

"The unexplained blast occurred between the burning North Tower and the 47-story Salomon Brothers Building, known as WTC 7, immediately after United Airlines Flight 175 smashed into the South Tower, at about 9:03 a.m.

"The explosion at WTC 6 was shown afterward on CNN. But because it was not broadcast as it happened there has been some confusion about when it actually occurred.

"The large amount of smoke seen cascading around the South Tower in the video led some observers to mistake the blast for a dust cloud from the subsequent collapse of the tower."

HONG KONG, China (CNN) -- Cecilia Yeung bounded into the meeting room of the office in downtown Hong Kong, clapping to the beat of Chumbawamba's "I get knocked down, I get up again...."

"There are so many things in life that people don't show up for," the Hong Kong manager for Success Resources said, smiling broadly as she praised the 18 people who had gathered that evening.

The young, mostly Chinese crowd, had come to learn how to "unleash the power within," and hear about U.S. motivational speaker Anthony Robbins, a man with superstar good looks that can whip his audience into a frenzy.

"Do I have your commitment, raise your hands," Yeung shouted, alluding to the $619-price tag to hear Robbins speak -- via additional delivery. Hands filled the air.

Each one of the crowd in this city of 6.9 million people on China's southern coast had come for different reasons. Teresa was seeking a way of connecting. Edmond wanted to tackle tasks without the worry. Rolf wanted to be rich. Abel was looking for love.

'Time to prosper'
Across the border in mainland China, Raymond Tan has the enviable task of shipping in speakers to a verdant market rushing away from its communist past.

Tan grew up in a China of few choices. Under Mao Zedong's vision of a classless nation, the state imposed strict controls over everyday life. When Tan finished school, the state gave him a job.

"On the street the situation was grim," said Anthony Saich, a China expert at Harvard University who lived in Beijing during the Cultural Revolution.

"At 6 p.m. everything was closed, there were no bars or restaurants, no markets, no lights."

But that all started changing when Deng Xiaoping proclaimed: "It is time to prosper. China has been poor a thousand years ... to get rich is glorious."

Now this nation of 1.3 billion people is one of the word's top exporters, and is attracting huge amounts of money as it zooms to superpower status. (Full story)

"They never thought about being rich and successful," says Shanghai-born businessman Tan.

"Only when the private economy came in, then all of a sudden, opportunities arose."

'Chuppies'
Millions of Chinese have been lifted out of poverty, giving birth to the "Chuppie," or the Chinese yuppie, who are being bombarded with glitzy shopping malls, designer apartments and the latest cars.

Incomes in the cities doubled between 1995 and 2004, says investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston, and will likely rise another 46 percent to 2014. During that same period, spending is seen quintupling to $37 trillion.

"We might not be able to be rich man's children, but we can always be rich man to our children," is an oft-repeated quote in the world's fastest growing economy.

Eager to tap into this massive desire to succeed that has come at breakneck speed and without much of a blueprint, a growing tide of Western self-help and business gurus have flooded into China.

Joe Girard, "the world's greatest salesperson," has come, Tan says. So has Brian Tracy whom Tan calls "the God of sales." And don't forget Robert Kiyosaki, the "World's No. 1 financial intelligence adviser.".

When Girard came, the people "went really crazy," Tan says."They will do anything to get near the speaker to just touch them sometimes."

'Very hungry'
Personal coach to former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Robbins is the latest and likely the biggest name entrant into the China market. He made his debut in mainland China last year.

Up and coming Chinese forked out 5,000 yuan ($622) to hear him via digital delivery say they can take action to achieve whatever they want.

"Mainland Chinese people are very hungry for new information, new knowledge, and with the economy growing at such a pace, they are in need of spiritual development as well," Tan says.

Last year he bought in John Coutis, one of Australia's top motivational speakers, a man with no legs who walks on his arms. A picture shows his upper body on a skateboard.

When he toured 20 Chinese cities last year, he was mobbed, with 100,000 people coming to see him talk. In Jiangmen alone, as many as 15,000 turned up, Tan says.

'The power'
But it is not just the Western gurus that are making it big.

An insatiable demand is growing in China for "hard skills" such as management training, experts say. The demand is being fueled by the country's march from a centrally planned economy to one with more market schemes, and with the arrival of a greater number of multinational businesses.

There are now around 160 MBA programs in China as companies rush to train locals, says Juan Antonio Fernandez, professor of management at the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai.

Fernandez estimates it will be at least 10 to 15 years before the management skill shortage in China is met.

But "China has the advantage of backwardness," he says. "Because they are late, they can skip steps and go from state-owned enterprise to the latest systems. You can see that in the new generation who are fully prepared."

Hong Kong's Yeung, for one, thinks things are rosy for China's youth, as they discover that "anything is possible."

As Dave McGowan wrote in 2002:

"Prominent among those heaping derision on 'conspiracy theories' is The Nation's David Corn. Among other inanities, a piece penned by Corn makes the rather remarkable claim that: "Simply put, the spies and special agents are not good enough, evil enough, or gutsy enough to mount this operation ... Such an operation -- to execute the simultaneous destruction of the two towers, a piece of the Pentagon, and four airplanes and make it appear as if it all was done by another party -- is far beyond the skill level of U.S. intelligence." (5)

No ... an operation of that sort would clearly require a loosely-organized band of poorly-equipped cave-dwellers."

Cockburn, too, trusts in the cave-dweller thesis. And, like some foam-at-the-mouth Torquemada, he now ritually condemns all those who question official dogma.

Fascinating.

Virgin Comics and Animation (VCA), launched about a month ago, has many big names behind it. VCA has the financial backing of British tycoon Sir Richard Branson and novelist Deepak Chopra, surely a formula the company is betting on to top the charts. Interestingly, VCA is a three-way partnership between Virgin, Intent Media (started by Deepak Chopra) and Gotham Entertainment, South Asia's largest publisher of comic magazines.

Says Shekar Kapur, one of the founders of VCA, "The time has come for India to do a reverse cultural colonisation. Our mythic characters are potential goldmines." VCA's foray into the global character entertainment industry will use a three-pronged approach: The Shakti line would lead the brood. Devi, the first of the Shakti characters, taps into the primal myth and the universal qualities of the feminine archetype, says Sharad Devarajan, CEO, VCA.

Other characters in the series are Sadhu, Snake Woman and Ramayana 3392 AD. Fired by Indian mythological characters and shaped by Indian pop culture, these powerful characters would be part of the new wave of content being created in the country, according to Devarajan.

VCA's first line of comics - Devi, Snake Woman and The Sadhu - have already hit the bookstands in the US and will be soon be seen in Indian kids' hands. Devi, the debut title, is among the top 150 titles launched in the US in July. In fact, Devarajan proudly announces that the comic book has just been reprinted three times in the US and would soon be printed in all major international languages (French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese and Italian). Buoyed by its success, VCA is already working on reinventing Panchatantra to suit the modern world and is planning to rope in filmmaker Ashok Banker for this.

The next series in the pipeline is Director's Cut, where VCA would work with and make movies with famous directors such as Shekar Kapur and John Woo who created successes such as Mission Impossible and Face-Off.

Virgin Voices, the third line, would be creating characters with top-notch novelists, musicians, singers such as Salman Rushdie, Nicholas Cage and Deepak Chopra. "Our talent pool could emerge from India, China, Japan or any other country in the world," says Devarajan. In fact, he calls VCA the first seamless, borderless, nationless entertainment company in the world.

You rarely hear British magnates sounding as magnanimous. Richard Branson has promised to invest £1.6bn of Virgin's profits in renewable energy, but it is often wise with Branson to check the small print. Elsewhere, the rich hang on to their money and the rest of us don't find their avarice unusual because we don't have America's peculiar puritan culture. In God Won't Save America, his new book on why the dynamism and hypocrisies of the founding fathers led to a society where 'business is next to divinity', George Walden writes that their emphasis on charity was America's saving grace. 'Implicit in the doctrine of freedom to get rich was the understanding that rich folk have a duty to help the common weal.'

I think Brown is naive to believe he can import the US's charitable culture like a container of machine tools being flown into Heathrow. But I may be wrong and on Tuesday, an organisation called the Fortune Forum will try to prove that I am by appealing to 'individuals of extreme wealth' to empty their bank accounts at a dinner in central London. Five hundred guests, paying £75,000 or more for a table, will hear Bill Clinton, Michael Douglas and 'aristo-environmentalist' Zac Goldsmith appeal to them to take 'personal and individual action against global poverty and environmental degradation'. As they speak, 'golden goddesses', glamour pusses in glitzy dresses, will sway through the audience collecting pledges for the British Red Cross, Water Aid and African Renaissance.

The event's organiser, Renu Mehta, a model turned clothing entrepreneur, chirruped that she had once been a party girl, but then found by 'talking to my friends, very fortunate individuals like me - captains of industry, celebrities, activists - that we were all feeling the same way. We were looking for the missing ingredient in our lives, an ingredient that could offer personal fulfilment. I've since discovered this only comes with the serenity of giving something back'.

I have to confess to a prejudice here. Short of being locked up in the nonces' wing of Brixton prison, I can't think of a worse way to spend an evening than being stuck in the company of 'aristo-environmentalists' and ageing actors as they try to find serenity in an orgy of competitive compassion.

Which isn't to say that the Fortune Forum won't do good. Conceivably, the 'individuals of extreme wealth' could raise tens or hundreds of millions for people who need the money and it would feel perverse to criticise them if it wasn't for the influence of religion on the new charitable movement. Not the ferocious moral earnestness of New England Protestantism, but the sloppy and occasionally sinister hodgepodge of new age mumbo jumbo which provides what passes for spirituality for so many of the modern wealthy.

One of the highlights of the evening will be a video address by Deepak Chopra, a fashionable Californian guru who has become very rich by condemning materialism.

"A few years ago, one of the great figures of contemporary biology, Ernst Mayr, published some reflections on the likelihood of success in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. He considered the prospects very low. His reasoning had to do with the adaptive value of what we call "higher intelligence," meaning the particular human form of intellectual organization. Mayr estimated the number of species since the origin of life at about fifty billion, only one of which "achieved the kind of intelligence needed to establish a civilization." It did so very recently, perhaps 100,000 years ago. It is generally assumed that only one small breeding group survived, of which we are all descendants.

Mayr speculated that the human form of intellectual organization may not be favored by selection. The history of life on Earth, he wrote, refutes the claim that "it is better to be smart than to be stupid," at least judging by biological success: beetles and bacteria, for example, are vastly more successful than humans in terms of survival. He also made the rather somber observation that "the average life expectancy of a species is about 100,000 years."

We are entering a period of human history that may provide an answer to the question of whether it is better to be smart than stupid. The most hopeful prospect is that the question will not be answered: if it receives a definite answer, that answer can only be that humans were a kind of "biological error," using their allotted 100,000 years to destroy themselves and, in the process, much else.

The species has surely developed the capacity to do just that, and a hypothetical extraterrestrial observer might well conclude that humans have demonstrated that capacity throughout their history, dramatically in the past few hundred years, with an assault on the environment that sustains life, on the diversity of more complex organisms, and with cold and calculated savagery, on each other as well."
Noam Chomsky

That's alright, though. With Deepak Robbins to show them the way....there's no need find it themselves.

Pardon my fuzzy-headedness, O clear & rational pessimists, but how is it an evolutionary advantage to be stupid, short-sighted and generally villianous? This goes right back to Shrub's eternal pessimism--the more vicious tendencies of the power-mad might seem to give them an advantage--their ruthlessness allows them enslave and stupify the host herd for their own selfish profit--but if they end up driving the herd over the cliff, it's not much of an evolutionary advantage, is it?

Just because the parasites have got the stooges thinking that competition is somehow healthier than cooperation (well, not "somehow," but through the incessant application of CIA anti-Communist propaganda and surreal inducements to find Ann Coulter sexually attractive, so as to ease the insertion of the secret sausage of stupidity with which she keeps the pathways clear at the dutiful-citizen orientation outlets stationed all up and down your media dail) doesn't mean that it's not focking horse-hockey that only an idiot would believe it.

The species will survive despite these thugs, despite the fear and pessimism they engender, and despite the apparent hopelessness of life in these times. Consider how much effort goes into keeping people stupid and hopeless--and how little it takes, how small the spark of hope needs to be to ignite the optimism which is the lust for life, the essentail nature of nature. (Why was sex was programmed to feel good, and fear not so good, after all?)

"BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A quarter of a million Iraqis have fled sectarian violence and registered as refugees in the past seven months, data released on Thursday showed, amid an upsurge in attacks that has accompanied the Ramadan holy month.

Al Qaeda's leader in
Iraq called for the kidnapping of Westerners to swap for a Muslim cleric jailed in the United States, according to an Internet audio tape.

The sectarian killing continued in Baghdad, where police said they had found the bodies of 40 victims -- bound, tortured and murdered -- in the last 24 hours, a total that has become almost commonplace in the capital over the last few weeks.

The United States says violence in Iraq has surged in the last two weeks, and this past week, the first of Ramadan, saw the most suicide bombs of any week since the war began in 2003.

The registered refugee figures showed 40,000 families -- 240,000 people -- claiming assistance, up from 27,000 families in July. The figures do not include an uncounted number of Iraqis who have moved home without claiming aid.

"The reason for this increase is that the security situation in some provinces has deteriorated considerably, forcing people to leave their homes in fear for their lives," said Migration Ministry spokesman Sattar Nowruz"

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of everything that stands
The end

No safety or surprise
The end
I'll never look into your eyes again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need of some stranger's hand
In a desperate land

Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain
There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the King's highway
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway West, baby

Ride the snake
Ride the snake
To the lake
To the lake

The ancient lake, baby
The snake is long
Seven miles
Ride the snake

He's old
And his skin is cold
The West is the best
The West is the best
Get here and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is calling us
The blue bus is calling us
Driver, where are you taking us?

The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall

He went into the room where his sister lived
And then he paid a visit to his brother
And then he walked on down the hall
And he came to a door
And he looked inside
Father
Yes son?
I want to kill you
Mother, I want to. . .

C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

Why is it easier to find oneself being afraid
Than to find oneself getting laid?

"Pardon my fuzzy-headedness, O clear & rational pessimists, but how is it an evolutionary advantage to be stupid, short-sighted and generally villianous?"

To be fair to Mr. Chomsky, I don't think he meant human stupidity. I think he was comparing human intelligence(?) which developed "civilization" to the relative stupidity of the other species on the planet which haven't developed "civilization."
Species that will, most likely, outlast our big brained over-intellectualizing weenie asses.

Blaming everything on "our leaders" is little more than scapegoat-ology.
Flailing about for a new satan to blame the world's evils on will do wonders to make everyone feel all comfy-cozy, it denies the reality of it all.
Namely, that our problems are very much a group effort.

I don't know that I'd label myself as either a pessimist or optimist. Depending on my mood, or the subject being discussed, I could be both, either or neither. On one hand, I would say that both perspectives warp the perception of 'reality'. On the other hand, I would say that 'reality' IS perception.

Some of the posts here are masterful attempts at propaganda: the belief systems of the elite 'illumined ones' who rule over us are presented as benign and intellectually deep paradigms intended to 'help' us 'see' our 'inner divinity.' Sounds an awful lot like the lie of the serpent in Eden - "Ye shall be as Gods."

The ruling elites of this world ARE adherents of the mystery religions and the heirs of the gnostics. If you want to know the consequences of this supposed 'enlightenment' just look at the world around you. If you think the world is being run well then by all means give these ideas credence. Heck, some people here think the slave labor used to build the pyramids of Egypt was a good thing.

But if you don't think world affairs are being run to your benefit or for the benefit of mankind in general, then you can see these ideas for what they really are - a smokescreen. Anyone who claims to have 'secret' knowledge is only trying to justify why he or she feels they are superior to you and worthy of ruling over you.

As far as the 'three eyed alien race' that supposedly rules this world is concerned, it sounds an awful lot like the Nephilim/Rephaim/Gibborim of the Old Testament. Interestingly enough, the Rephaim were the first true practitioners of reincarnation, so it makes perfect sense that the chakra tradition originated with their ways.

shrub -

Either I'm not communicating very well or you've got bananas in your ears, because something isn't getting through. I'm going to try one more time and then let it rest.

I never did and never would say that "Civilization was a brutal adaptation out of Environmental Necessity," because that sentence is entirely loaded with words out of the most heavy-handed kind of 19th century mechanistic materialism -- "brutal," "adaptation," "necessity."

My own view is that it's all improvisation and creative problem-solving. Life throws challenges at us as a species and we deal with them as best we can. Sometimes the solutions are pretty good ones, other times they have a lot of negative trade-offs that are themselves the seeds of further problems.

In the case of civilization, you really have to go back to the last ten to twenty thousand years of the Ice Age, when Homo sapiens was finally getting the hang of being at the top of the food chain. Instead of being marginal hunter-gatherers, killing and eating whatever happened to wander by, they had developed the expertise and technology to utilize and optimize every aspect of their environment. This gave them the leisure to start really developing art, science, and philosophy.

However, the end of the Ice Age brought a slew of unfavorable changes -- from the flooding of the richest coastal lands to the return of dense forests in place of game-filled tundra -- that left people in most places scrambling to survive. Out of various possible creative solutions to this dilemma, the most productive turned out to be agriculture -- taking all that accumulated expertise in encouraging the prevalence of useful plants and animals and applying it in a highly concentrated way to just a few species.

The result was harder work for everyone, along with a less nutritious diet, but it did make it possible to maintain a relatively high level of population density, social complexity, and cultural innovation.

However, the Neolithic lifestyle remained tenuous. All it took was a period of exceptionally cold and dry weather -- as happened every few thousand years -- for farmers to turn into nomads or for whole regions to be depopulated entirely.

Civilization was the eventual solution to that crashout problem -- a market basket of expedients ranging from government-mandated storage and redistribution systems (to handle local or short-term famines) to elaborate irrigation works. After the appearance of the first civiliations, there was one more crashout, around 2300 BC, but that was the last. Since then, the human enterprise has remained on an even keel. And that, I'm willing to affirm, is a good thing.

Along with this change in the basis of subsistence came an enormous philosophical shift, which both built on its insights and fed into its development. This was the shift to thinking of existence as an orderly and purposeful cosmos, one subject to understanding and control.

If you look at the most ancient trickster stories that survive among the grab-bag of human myths, there's no sense of order in them. It's all, "Well back at the beginning it wasn't settled yet whether people would live forever or would die, and the trickster said, 'I think I'll throw this rock in the river and if it floats people will live for ever and if it sinks they'll die.'" Or "One day the trickster got really pissed about something and threw his shoe up into the sky and it became the sun."

Charming, for sure, but there isn't any sense of the universe as a coherent system, with all its parts working together in a harmonious and self-reinforcing fashion. The builders of the first civilizations -- fascinated by the regular and well-coordinated movements of the stars and planets -- did have such a sense. And, following the principle of "as above so below," they determined to make our world below as orderly and well-regulated as the one above.

That was also, on the whole, a good and useful thing -- though with an unfortunate potential for over-rigidity built in.

However, on the practical level of creating a well-regulated social order that would solve the problems of recurring droughts and famines, there were definite limitations. One was that most of it would have to be based on human muscle-power -- and that meant a lot of coercion, slavery, and crap like that. Another was that, lacking established social institutions beyond the tribal level, power would have to be put in the hands kings with the authority of gods to get people to listen to them. A third was that there was a lot more territory outside the civilized sphere than inside it, so keeping people from simply running away would take yet more coercion.

These things were all put into place because, despite its harshness and rigidity, civilization as it developed was by far the best alternative given the choices. The facts that it developed in such similar ways in many parts of the world, spread from those places to additional areas, and never encountered any competing system operating at an equivalent level of sophistication demonstrate that much.

However, the ambiguous bargain that was civilization is now coming to the natural end of its lifespan. We have labor-saving machinery. We have governments that we (by and large) are able to respect without having to worship. And we've run out of places to run off to. The need for coercion of ordinary citizens is pretty much over.

At the same time, we no longer think of the universe as a marvellous but rigid structure. We've got a much stronger sense of it as something flexible that humans can step in and fiddle with to improve the performance of the whole and their place in it. And that in itself will lead on to new ways of conceptualizing society that are very different from civilization as we have known it.

What comes out of that will have its own problems and limitations -- but I hope it will be on balance superior to what we've suffered under the last 5000 years.

All we really need at this point is to pry the dead hands of the former masters of civilization loose from the controls and start steering the ship to new ports of our desire.

I think I was pretty much with you until that. Not the part about realizing the universe isn't a rigid structure, but the part where humanity can fiddle with and improve it. Perhaps it would be better to say that we can fiddle with the way we interact with the universe, to perhaps live more in harmony with it.

Probably not useful to apply evolutionary biology to human syphilization. As Edward Wilson (author of "The Ants") quipped about Communism: "great idea, wrong species." Where does Bill Hicks fit into the evolutionary biologists' scheme? Or Chomsky? Was Morgan or Rockefeller some sort of Queen Bee, surrounded by a loyal buzzing praetorian who inflicted their designs on the rest of DroneWorld?

The EBers, as Richard Dunkin' Dawkins has noted, still haven't figured out sex: it just doesn't make sense to them. We should be as plasmodiums, or self-propagating hermaphrodites.

Here's a small taste of their pondering:

"The basic argument is that sexual processes come in a very wide variety of kinds and are separate from reproduction in most taxa. The difficulty is not explaining the evolution of sex — different sexual processes have evolved multiple times, and have been lost multiple times. It is not strange that almost all 'higher' vertebrates use gametic meiosis, what is strange is that so few of them have reverted to asexuality. The explanation offered is that due to historical developments sex has become so closely linked to reproduction, embryology and development that it is now an indispensable part of the life cycle."

Ah. So THAT'S why I liked to look at Playboy.

Or, for a higher order of humor, contemplate on this, from the Oxford Survey in Evol. Bio, ed. Richard Dawkins:

"The Evolution of Chemical Signal Receptor Systems: From Slime Molds to Man (John Tyler Bonner)
The title is a bit inaccurate: the essay really only discusses simple chemical receptor systems (in particular those of slime molds), and the author's claim that the nervous systems of higher animals are only quantitatively different seems more than a little dubious."

"More than a little." Freakin' laugh riot!

For that matter, why don't we or any creatures have three eyes, if the Sirius dudes did and the Dogon dug it and three eyes seem better than two on the face of it? Why, mystical travelers, did our pineal glands atrophy? Is the schism in the bicameral mind (Julian Jaynes) caused by the lack of pineal integration, of clairvoyant wisdom?

Is the unblinking tv screen a kind of 3rd eye, hypnotizing the mass man?

Phil, we hardly knew ye. But if you looked at poor pathetic Nixon and intuited the Black Iron Prison, then man alive you must be laughing now, wherever you bees.

Sex & Daniel Pinchbeck"

"And I was the classic paradigm of one who can't make it in the aggressive social reality of high school, so I geeked out on Dungeons and Dragons, poetry, chess and go," says Pinchbeck. He toted Ginsberg's books to school, taunted by his classmates when they opened one to find a poem called "Sweet Boy Give Me Your Ass."

For a long time, Pinchbeck, who spent part of his adolescence in a body cast with a crippling back ailment, was afraid of sex, of his fragile body being intruded upon by another. After dropping out of Wesleyan University in the late Eighties -- a nerdy New Wave kid, he didn't fit in at a college of prep-school Deadheads -- he sought to cure himself of this condition, say friends, by hanging out at a bar near Columbia University once popular with the Beats and hitting on every girl there until he no longer had any fear or shame, and caught a couple, too (today, friends note with head-shaking wonder Pinchbeck's skill at landing beautiful women). "I always say, 'You haven't lived in Manhattan if you haven't thrown up out of a cab or fucked Daniel Pinchbeck,' " says an old conquest. "He will yell and whine and make you date him."

-snip-

Nor have Pinchbeck's colleagues in the soothsaying world missed the fringe benefits of his prophetic deadline mentality, as he opens the minds of nubile young things -- one of his more recent pronouncements is that the nature of the sexes is not necessarily monogamous, and that some who prefer that way of life are living in false consciousness. "The sad thing is, this is what any of us geeky, overeducated nerds who've gotten to hang out a little with rock stars want," says one peer. "I want nineteen-year-old girls sucking on my penis too, especially if I can justify that a nineteen-year-old girl sucking on my penis is, in the process, saving the world."

Perhaps I've got too much of the hacker mentality, but it seems to me that fiddling-with is one of those things that human beings just naturally do. It's what makes us human. Unlike, say, dolphins, we have an enormous effect on our environment -- and have had at least since the days when our use of fire began to significantly impact ecosystems.

The real problems, I think, come when we don't admit the impact we're having -- when we assume, say, that we can dump our garbage in the ocean and nobody will notice. It's far better to admit that we're the primary source of environmental change on the planet, and to use that power responsibly, than to duck out into denial.

What it comes down to is that we have to stop acting like a bunch of rowdy teenagers and become grownups instead.

While the need may be over, the want is still there. When consciousness is shallow and crude then more order is appropriate to maintain control. The creative, luciferic or breaking away impulse can manifest in positive as well as negative ways. Many times the coercive Ahrimanic proxy for conformity, the negative polarity within order, will co-opt and repackage a creative expression so as to cast it in a negative light. Negative polarity elements within the creative community also badmouth traditional positive expressions of order.

Kind of a sad game and I for one will praise God on the day we learn to play a new game.

Oarwell: thanks for the comments on David Corn & Alex Cockburn.

Very interesting, indeed.

We need, as a community, to have a resource which lists & cites the public positions of individual "journalists" & pundits on 9/11.

The entire topic is ripe for much discussion & examination.

I keep my own mental scorecard of gatekeepers. In a strange way, I prefer the Corns & Cockburns because they're "outed" with their bullshit.

More dangerous are the "agnostics" like Tom Hartmann; the "vacillators" like Gore Vidal who used to declare 9/11 Conspiracy but then retracted; and those who play both sides (Randi Rhodes used to do this until recently, and presumably she'll relapse).

Most dangerous, perhaps, are the disinfo-planters, such as Dave Von Kliest. As Jeff has written here previously, "The best disinformation is mostly truth."

But first, we could all use a good scorecard to see who's who.

The need for coercion of ordinary citizens is pretty much over

I would argue that there was never a need. As Sounder indicates....it was always a want.

Civilization was, and is a Faustian bargain, I'm afraid.

I was in back of an old Camry on the way to work this morning, and plastered on the back window was a Bumper Sticker that said Redneck and another that just had the number 15, apparently for a fallen Nascar Driver. Pieces of shit, like the pig driving that car, are incapable of adopting a new paradigm, and if we can't gain their cooperation, then any chance of moving to a new paradigm is dead on arrival.

Does anyone else understand my exasperation with this?

Schrub, after citing starroutes statement; “The need for coercion of ordinary citizens is pretty much over.” You used me to back up your contention that it was never a need, it was always a want. I however, implicitly accepted the need part with my (near )next sentence; “While the need may be over, the want is still there.” Please try to be more accurate when reflecting on other people’s material.

The following paragraph shows this when it is intimated that lower order expressions of consciousness may require more extreme means to maintain social coherency. That’s why the god of the Old Testament was such a prick, for instance. There is legitimacy to relative truth understanding systems, in that they provide a social center. Yet as consciousness develops we can begin to see the limitations of current ways of seeing things.

I have a ‘system’ for connecting to the ineffable that is simple, rational and non mystical. It has provided me with an excellent lifestyle and sense of connection to an authentic expression of being. It is to balance order and liberty. Maybe the idea is too simple, sophomoric even and unworthy of comment.

We that hang out here are trying to develop a deeper picture as to how the pre-manifest comes to manifestation. Unfortunately most of us cannot help but to filter subtle notions through existing reactive mind patterns.

50/50 here regarding the balance between effort spent enforcing and imposing ones pretences versus effort spent trying to examine, reflect on and develop ones pretences.

You're correct, Sounder, I used your reference inappropriately. I will be more careful in the future....in fact, I won't ever use you as a reference again, if that's alright with you.

However, I completely disagree with you. It was never a need. It was always a want.

Thank-you schrub,

You say;

"However, I completely disagree with you. It was never a need. It was always a want."

schrub, we can disagree heartily without having to feel offended.

You say want- I say need. Big deal, either way; what are the reasons for your stance, that needs to be the subject for argument and discussion.

I got my 'reason', (you can read my essays). If you care to comment on those ideas I am all ears.

I'm not offended, Sounder. If anything, you seemd to be a bit put off by my misrepresentation of your stance....and that's understandable....so I conceded.

Now, back to Want versus Need. If we're going to turn it into a debate, then we will have to define terms, i.e. want, need and coercion, as well as determine the context of the statement.

I defer to Maslow's Hierarchy when referring to a Want versus a Need. Surely you find it possible, if it's not already documented somewhere, that societies, and thusly, cultures could endure without coercion. Certainly, there are a multitude of ways in which to perpetuate our species...ways that don't necessarily predicate coercion. Considering such, then doesn't it hold that coercion of the people was never mandatory for survival...but yet it was chosen as the tactic upon which Civilization rests....because, IMHO, that's what was wanted...not needed. There is some intrinsic value in the act of coercion, itself, aside from the extrinsic benefits that accrue to those who implement and practice it. However, as I have asserted, the brutal tactic is not necessary for our species survival...and, in fact, one could argue that it is actually counterproductive to the goal of perpetuation....as we stand on the brink of self-annihilation.

I agree, that at this point, the coercive imposition of perceived 'need' is counterproductive to our situation. Yet this may be because consciousness in general is more developed and we all will do better if we learn to think for ourselves.

As per my ontological pretences, when consciousness develops then the mixture of order and liberty changes so as to maintain proper balance within society.

Shrub, I am not offended by much, and I do respect your felt need to present your uncensored self; more power to you.

My suggestion is that we all do well when we learn to distinguish between the positive or negative representations of our various pretences.

Think alchemy; we tap into the ineffable by resonance, and bring out of it what we put into it. Change the feedback loop and we change the base into the refined.

Wars are promoted for many reasons; one reason high on my list is that it ensures that people continue to maintain negatively oriented resonance patterns.

Of course I do not want to feed the beast; and yet I do, as do you, until we formalize the process by which the positive can properly be distinguished from the negative. (nice words can hide negativity, while harsh words can hide love and conscern.)

BTW, an analysis I once did of the connections between the noumena mentioned in Conspiranoia! indicated to me that Scientology was a CIA creation.
