All Work and No Play

I hope to have a new post up later today. In the meantime, here's an open thread.

To get the ball rolling, how about a few weird animal stories:

Do you prefer the Psycho killer raccoons of Olympia, WA?

Or the Monster wasp nests of Alabama?

Frankly either one gives me the willies -- the wasp nests are far creepier though.

Shrub -- I may believe in rational explanations, but when nature freaks out on you like this, something is very, very wrong.

Middle East: Now, Israelis Call for Boycott of Hezbollah Hashish

Israeli drug users have long been happy to puff on Lebanese hashish, but now, as war between the two countries rages, some are calling for a boycott because the cross-border trade helps finance Hezbollah, The Jewish Daily Forward reported Thursday. Hashish is the most popular form of marijuana in Israel, and Lebanon is the number one supplier, according to Israeli law enforcement.

The boycott call came from activist and Jerusalem resident Dan Sieradski, who posted the idea on his Orthodox Anarchist blog. "A Persian-backed terrorist organization is the primary supplier of hashish to the Israeli market today," Sieradski wrote. "And this is why, with a heavy heart, I am officially boycotting hashish, effective immediately."

Persian smoking hashish
Hashish grown in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley has traditionally been smuggled into Israel by Israeli Arabs, Bedouins, and Druze nomads, but the Forward reports that since Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, Hezbollah has taken over the trade -- and the associated profits. "Hezbollah is directly overseeing the entire operation," Police Captain Avi ElGrisi was quoted as saying in The Jerusalem Post. "They say where, when, and how much drugs are brought in."

Amnesty International says attacks on civilian targets by Israeli military forces during the recently ended fighting in Lebanon look like deliberate war crimes.
Truce fire observed when they feel like it..
And Bush kissing ass, saying whatever they want him to.
Looks like cluster bombs and thermobaric weapons from their friends in the USA used against a defenseless populace.

Not to mention the UN building leveled with 4 observers at the beginning.

IDF blows 4 UN observers up.Housed in the same building since 1978 , but it was not deliberate and nothing like the USS Liberty I am told.

Death tolls from war.
A matter of scale the IDF and Hezbollah. 25 to 1 civilian deaths.

Jews and Moslems.
Both are wrong and should not be dragging us all down the road to destruction.

Our Leader
Bush on tv last night saying we need 3,500 peacekeepers in Lebanon ASAP.Yes, bring on armegedon and surround Jerusalem ASAP.

Marines are Brainwashed, but no stupid.

And lastly the marines are calling up inactive reservists for duty in foreign lands defending our liberty.
Which the terrorists hate,i am told by Bush.
Good enough reason but why are the people telling me these falsehoods so intently taking it away with ever increasing rapidity.

Plus the dismantling of lots of social programs for the poor, to support the war on whatever.
Drugs and terrorism are fake reasons for the NEVERENDING WAR.

World’s oldest man smokes for 76 years and celebrates his 115th birthday

The world’s oldest man is full of happiness to live such an unusually long life. “I am happy. I have never thought that I could live for so many years,” said he.

The editorial board of the Guinness Book of Records acknowledged Emiliano Mercado Del Toro the oldest man living on Earth. Emiliano was a little boy when the USA took Puerto Rico away from Spain during the war of 1898. In 1918, when WWI was drawing to its end, Mercado became a soldier of the US Army. Throughout his entire life the man was working at sugar refineries and plantations, Itar-Tass news agency said.

Mercado does not hear very well. He lost his eyesight four years ago. The man can move on a wheelchair only. Answering journalists’ question about the secret of his longevity, Mercado said that he always ate only healthy food and never drank alcohol. “I have never poisoned my body with alcohol,” said he.

Isabela Mayor Charlie Delgado said that one of the convalescent homes in the town would be named in honour of Emiliano Mercado Del Toro. “We will name the hospital in honour of the man who always ate healthy food, hardly had any bad habits and made the island world-famous,” the mayor said.

It is worthy of note that Mercado was an avid smoker. He was smoking for 76 years and quit when he turned 90.

More Bible thumpin' child humpers. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to find the Biblical mandate that says, "Suffer the little children to endure endless fondling & diddling by My earthly representatives."

PINEVILLE - A McDonald County church pastor, his wife and two deacons accused of child sexual abuse are expected to turn themselves in to authorities Monday afternoon.

Lambert, 51, his wife, Patty, 49, and deacons Tom Epling, 51, and Paul Epling, 53, are accused of child abuse charges stemming from incidents which allegedly occurred between 1977 and 2004.

In a probable cause statement, Deputy Mike Le Sueur, an investigator with the McDonald County Sheriff's Department, said Raymond Lambert, fondled a 12-year-old girl in 1987. As time progressed, the deputy said in his report, the girl was required to perform oral sex on Raymond Lambert. The incidents happened repeatedly until 2005, when the girl left the church compound.

Le Sueur said in a probable cause statement that Patty Lambert, compelled a 16-year-old church member to strip, whereupon she was allegedly fondled by Raymond Lambert while Patty Lambert was naked in the bed with them. The deputy added that in permitting the contact between the pastor and the young church member, Patty Lambert endangered the welfare of the teenager.

Le Sueur said in a probable cause statement that Tom Epling fondled a church member between 1976 and 1978, beginning when the child was only four years old.

And according to a probable cause statement, Paul Epling reportedly fondled the same child during 1977 and 1978, telling her “he was preparing her body for service to God.” When the girl was 10, the statement concluded, Paul Epling allegedly attempted sexual intercourse with her, stopping “only after she protested due to pain.”

In a telephone interview Tuesday night, Le Sueur said several former church members had come forward in the past six months, claiming they had been molested for several years. The deputy said incest was involved, adding he understood that this was the third generation of church officials who participated in child sexual abuse.

Just so I avoid the Sex/Religion label I'll give an oldie but a goodie:

Ex-mayor Phillip Giordano's love life:

The jurors heard Giordano in his own voice asking for the "little one".

Jane Doe: "Well, who do you want."
Phil Giordano: "I want the, one of the l-l-little girls I told you."

Caught on tape. Then Mayor Philip Giordano arranging with a prostitute to bring her eight-year-old daughter and ten-year-old niece to perform sexual acts on the mayor.

Giordano: "Do you got the girls ?"
Doe: "Of course."
Giordano: :Definitely ?"
Doe. "Yep."

These calls helped convince jurors to convict Giordano on 17-federal counts. He now faces life in prison.

In his own voice Giordano asks their ages.

Giordano: "Gimme an age."
Doe: "Eight."
Giordano: "Tata?"
Doe: "Yeah."
Giordano: "For sure?"
Doe: "Yep."
Giordano: "Cause she ain't there, I ain't doin' it."

The tapes reveal a double life. Here, at a t-ball game with his sons while arranging to meet the girls.

Doe: "Um, it, where you at?"
Giordano: "I'm at T-ball."

A short time later,

Giordano: "I don't think I can, no, no, I'm not gonna be there at twelve. No. I'm not, I gotta finish this game, I'm at a T-ball game."

Another instance; he's making arrangements when he's interrupted by a call from Washington D.C. Giordano wanted a job in the Bush Administration.

Giordano: "Hang on, I gotta go. Hang on, I gotta go, I gotta go."
Doe: "Okay."
(Second Call)
Giordano: "Hello."
Lauren: "Hi. Mayor Giordano?"
Giordano: "Yes."
Lauren: "Hi, my name is Lauren. I'm Bill Hanson's assistant at the Department of Education. How are you?"

The FBI had wiretapped Giordano's cell phone as part of its investigation into corruption at city hall. But talk about the girl's birthday sent up a red flag leading to Giordano's arrest.

Giordano: "Who you got?"
Doe: "Today is her birthday you know."
Giordano: "It is?"
Doe: "She turns nine years old today."
Giordano: "Ahh, that's cool."

Anyone here ever heard of the infamous 'Greenbaum Speech' about satanic ritual abuse? Granted I would take the source with a grain of salt, but the excerpts are tantalizing:

"When you start to find the same highly esoteric information in different states and different countries, from Florida to California, you start to get an idea that there's something going on that is very large, very well coordinated, with a great deal of communication and sytematicness to what's happening. So I have gone from someone kind of neutral and not knowing what to think about it all to someone who clearly believes ritual abuse is real and that the people who say it isn't are either naive like people who didn't want to believe the Holocaust or -- they're dirty."

A military company connected to the US interrogators at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay camp is behind a finger-printing system used in British schools. VeriCool, which runs fingerprint registration and cashless school lunch systems in 22 UK schools, is part of Anteon, an American company which provides training and technology for the US military.

Anteon has the contract to run specialist courses on topics including interrogation and counter-intelligence at Fort Huachuca in Arizona, headquarters of the US Army Intelligence Center.

The company, recently bought by a larger defence business, General Dynamics Information Technology, has been accused of training interrogators who worked at the detention centre in Guantanamo Bay.

Schools in fingerprinting row
finger printing
Prints are said to make libraries more efficient
Tens of thousands of children are being fingerprinted in school - often without the consent of their parents, a human rights group has complained.

Prints are taken for a library lending system which the makers say makes lending more efficient and less vulnerable to abuse.

But the pressure group Privacy International says the practice is illegal and breaches the human right to privacy.

One of the makers of the technology, Micro Librarian Systems (MLS), say they have sold about 1,000 systems to schools in the UK and abroad.

One mother from London told BBC News Online she was horrified when her son came home and told her he had been finger-printed at his primary school.

She said: "I consider that this was an infringement of my son's civil rights and a breach of trust on the part of the school.

"This should not have been done at all, and certainly not without our consent, or indeed knowledge.

"If my child had been arrested, I believe the police would not have a right to take fingerprints without our consent and access to a solicitor."

She said the new system may have been mentioned in a newsletter when her son was off sick, but she was never asked for consent.

The school has now removed her son's details from the system and says it will respect the wishes of other parents who want it to do the same.

Simon Davies, of the campaign group Privacy International says the practice of finger-printing children in this way is "dangerous, illegal and unnecessary".

He says the use of the technology should be banned in schools.

"It de-humanises our children and degrades their human rights," he said.

"Such a process has the effect of softening children up for such initiatives as ID cards and DNA testing.

"It's clearly a case of 'get them while they're young'.

"They are seen as a soft target for this technology".

Manufacturers MLS say it would be very difficult for a third party to access the prints and make use of them.

The company's technology director Stephen Phillips said: "The system does not store the actual fingerprint, but a map of it which takes in the print's key features.

"The image is then compressed and encrypted, so it would take a lot of effort to use it.

"People who have nothing to hide - why would they worry?"

Mr Phillips said the company advised schools to consult or inform parents before they used the technology.

He said only two parents had complained about the use of the technology to the company.

Privacy International says it expects there to be legal challenges to the use of the technology in schools.

But the government's information commissioner does not believe the system is breaking any laws or conventions.

Assistant to the commissioner, Phil Boyd said: "It is not in breach of the data protection act and it does not contravene the human rights act."

He said officials had been to check the system and thought it was impressive in terms of the security of the data.

"If it was being used to track pupils it would be different, but this use of the technology is fine," he said.

Officials at the Department for Education said the matter was one for head teachers and governing bodies, who had to ensure they stayed within the law.

I hear you, Starroute. Something is very wrong.

Also, I don't believe the rational explanation necessarily precludes another explanation. For example, as much talk as there is around here of Controlling the Weather, it could be posited that the wind shear effect is tactical, in which case both explantions are true, i.e. a polar system has dropped down and created the wind shear effect and it was the result of weather manipulation. The former is verifiably true, whereas the latter is speculative with a probability attached to it.

The Portal at Ground Zero By Joyce Keller

...Prior to and during the excavation for the World Center and for other construction in the area, the remains of at least 419 Colonial-era African-American slaves had been unearthed. In October 2003, they were respectfully re-interred a short distance away. Included in this burial were the remains of other black slaves who had also been discovered near the site in 1991.

Historians report that these African-American slaves were brought to lower New York during Colonial days, and horribly mistreated. Young children, teens, and adults had been brought here from Africa, forced into heavy labor, tortured, and killed. The killings were often done by hanging, mostly in the area now known as the New York Financial Center. They were buried in and around the area of the World Trade Center.

The starvation and mistreatment of the slaves went on for many generations. The area around what we now know as “Ground Zero” festered for centuries with the energy of human beings who were horribly mistreated, tortured, and killed. The energy had never been released...

That night, we fell asleep in our apartment with great difficulty. I was asleep only for a short time when I was awakened. I was inspired to walk into the living room. More asleep than awake, I realized that the room was filled with smoke, but it wasn’t physical. I also realized that the room was filled with spirits…mostly firefighters!

I walked over to the bay window that faces out to the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. I saw a huge, white cloud of light forming over the harbor. I heard a voice say to me, “Joyce, you have to stand by the window, and direct these departed souls out to the light which has formed over the harbor..."

By now, Jack had gotten up and joined me at the window. We stood there for hours, until the sun came up. We continuously said to the spirits who were leaving, “Go this way. Look at the light over the harbor. Go ahead. Don’t be afraid. Your loved ones are waiting for you. They will assist you right now. Do not be afraid!”

The line of departed entities seemed endless. They kept coming and coming. Many were World Trade Center employees who wanted to go back to their desks, or call their families to tell them they were all right. Many did not know they were no longer in their bodies. Some firefighters joked with us. One fireman said, “Look, I can fly! Even with my boots on!”

Finally, as the sun came up over the harbor, we realized that the line of departed souls was coming to an end. We knew that they had all crossed over. I had a feeling of peace sweep over me, and realized that Jack and I were completely exhausted. I looked down at the floor, and saw that I was standing in a pool of my perspiration...

Here is the next Really Sinister Thing. Looks like soon it may be No Play AND No Work.

"We've been discussing corporate governance lately, and nothing can make that more of a reality than to lose the Internet to a metering, pay-for-play system. It would completely kill sites like The Left Coaster and cost users not only billions of additional dollars at a time when the cost of everything else is going up while wages go down - it could also cost us our nation.

The telecommunications reform bill now moving through Congress threatens to be a major setback for those who hope that digital media can foster a more democratic society."

The "terrorists are happy when Democrats win elections" rhetoric is morphing into "there will be new terrorist attacks if Democrats win". Now, I am personally of the opinion that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats, other than marketing, of course. What we are seeing is the groundwork being laid for the final takeover. My prediction is as follows: the Democrats (whatever the fuck that means) will win the "elections" in November of this year. Before the the next session of Congress starts, in January of '07, there will be something very big. Another 9/11 style "terrorist" attack, or who knows, maybe they will finally off the chimp. Whatever it will be will give them the confusion/chaos and therefore cover needed to dissolve Congress, neuter the federal courts once and for all, and impose martial law. Immediately following that will be the formation of the federal police force (legal framework for which already exists) and then the reinstatement of the draft. The consumer culture will be replaced with the military culture and the travel to outright fascism will have arrived at its destination.

Under Fire! U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst Targeted For Suggesting New Independent 9/11 Investigation
Monday, August 21, 2006 - By Stephen Webster, Investigative Reporter

Army: Doubting Official 9/11 Story Is ‘Disloyal To The United States’

FT. SAM HOUSTON, Texas — Forty-one-year-old Sergeant First Class Donald Buswell is a hero. Having served over 19 years in the United States Army, Buswell has seen a lot of terrain. On April 15, 2004, he was injured in a rocket attack while serving a tour in Iraq. For this, SFC Buswell was given a Purple Heart. And until recently, Buswell was an Intelligence Analyst stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.

But if one were to ask Buswell’s Commanding Officer what he thinks of the Sergeant, the response would likely sound a little bit more like, "No comment."

Such were the words given to The Iconoclast by Lieutenant Colonel Jane Crichton after inquiring why SFC Buswell is the focus of an investigation initiated by Colonel Luke S. Green, Chief of Staff at Fifth Army in Ft. Sam Houston.

According to unnamed military sources contacted by The Iconoclast, SFC Buswell "used his Government issued email account to send messages disloyal to the United States …" Because of these statements, SFC Buswell could soon find himself dishonorably discharged, court marshaled, or worse.

It all started as a simple response to a common, unsolicited mass email, sent to 38 individuals at Ft. Sam Houston on Aug. 2, 2006. The message, as well as Buswell’s response, is among documents obtained by The Iconoclast. The sender of the first message is identified as "Anderson, Larry Mr JMC". It reads:

This is being sent more as assurance for what happens when a plane hits a nuclear site more so than in response to that German website alleging a government conspiracy related to the 9/11 Pentagon plane crash (though the website does present an interesting perspective) – LarrySubject: F-4 vs. Concrete Wall

Take a look at this clip [not included] and you’ll get a good feel for what happens to an airplane when it hits a concrete wall. Many of you have seen the produced (but not factual), Michael Moore-esque website that asks the question; "If it’s true that a Boeing airliner hit the Pentagon, what happened to all the parts of it? Why do we not find more pieces of it?

Where did all that mass GO???" (Therefore, the paranoid loony liberal reasoning, 9-11 must have been a US gov’t conspiracy!) Well, for those who question what happened to "all the mass of that airplane" this clip.

It’s the old Air Force engineering tests of the concrete barrier that surrounds nuclear reactor domes —tests to see if it will indeed survive an aerial attack. With the hi-speed cameras rolling, they accelerated an F-4 Phantom to 500mph and.........

Recall: "What happens when an ‘Unstoppable Force’ meets an ‘Immovable Object’???" (Remember, as you watch in slow motion as the F-4 turns to vapor, the Phantom was one of the toughest airplanes ever built).

SFC Buswell responded later that day, saying:

Subject: F-4 vs. Concrete Wall Hello,

I receive many unsolicited e-mails daily, this one I chose to respond to. The below mentioned premise that an F4 Phantom fighter jet hitting that hardened concrete barrier is akin to the alleged 757 hitting the Pentagon is like oil and water; they don’t mix, and they serve to muddy the issue. The issue is 911 was filled with errors in the ‘official report’ and ‘official story’ of that day, and, what happened that day. We all know and saw 2 planes hitting the WTC buildings, we didn’t see the 757 hit the Pentagon, nor did we see the plane crash in Shanksville PA. Both the PA and Pentagon ‘crashes’ don’t have clues and tell-tale signs of a jumbo-jet impacting those zones!

The Pentagon would have huge wing impacts in the side of the building; it didn’t. Shanksville PA would have had debris, and a large debris field; it didn’t.

Getting back to the F4...The Pentagon isn’t a nuclear hardened structure, so I can’t follow your weak logic that since an F4 vaporized itself in a test impact on a nuclear hardened structure that the alleged 757 hitting the Pentagon should have exhibited the same characteristics!

I say Occums razor is the best way to deduce this ‘day of infamy’; if you weigh all options, do some simple studying you will see 911 was clearly not executed by some arabs in caves with cell phones and 3 day old newspapers! I mean how are Arabs benefiting from pulling off 911? They have more war, more death and dismal conditions, so, how did 911 benefit them? Answer: It didn’t. So, who benefited from 9-11? The answer is sad, but simple; The Military Industial [sic] Complex.

It’s not a paranoid conspiracy to think there are conspiracies out there...and, it’s not Liberal Lunacy either, nor is it Conservative Kookiness! People, fellow citizens we’ve been had! We must demand a new independent investigation into 911 and look at all options of that day, and all plausabilities [sic], even the most incredulous theories must be examined.

Upon returning to his office the next day, Buswell discovered the locks had been changed, his security clearance was revoked, and an investigation had been launched. Buswell’s commanding officer, Colonel Luke Green, drafted a letter assigning Major Edwin Escobar to the investigation. According to sources, Colonel Green has asserted that SFC Buswell failed to obey Army regulations when he used his government issued email account to send what have been termed as messages disloyal to the United States with the intent of stirring up disloyalty, in a manner that brings discredit upon the United States Army.

It has been reported that Colonel Green also wrote that SFC Buswell claims to have information proving a conspiracy on the part of the United States Military Industrial Complex to attack targets within the United States, e.g., The Pentagon. Officials have suggested that the email response sent by SFC Buswell may be in violation of CFR 2635.705(a ), DoD-R 5500.7, and Joint Ethics Regulation paragraph 2-301b. These rules SFC Buswell is said to have perhaps violated regulate how soldiers utilize government resources, how they use their off-duty time, and how they use their official time.

The Iconoclast attempted to establish a dialogue with Colonel Green and Major Escobar, but calls were not returned as of press time. SFC Buswell declined to comment on the investigation, but noted that he spoke with his parents about the matter for a period of two days before he was ordered to not disclose any further information.

"My son spoke with me about [the investigation]," said Winthrop Buswell, SFC Buswell’s father. "There was an unsolicited email. My son, without divulging anything, without usurping anything, without doing anything to discredit anyone in any way, simply responded to that saying ‘Yes, there are what if’s. And maybe there is something that is being covered up.’ That’s all that I know. He responded to it, but it was unsolicited. I think – of course, I’m dad, being very much in love with his son and wanting to praise him – because he is a low man on the totem pole, of course he’s of pretty high rank but not quite an officer, that maybe … Maybe an investigation might be the scapegoat for whomever."

"That is so ridiculous," said Winthrop Buswell. "[To say he is disloyal to the United States] is totally ridiculous. And the discourtesy was, ah, very apparent at that particular time. … I’ve always thought the American way is this: to disagree is important. To dissent is important. And my son simply said, without any fanfare, ‘Look, let’s take a look at the whole picture. If you want to take a look at that, maybe there are a few paragraphs that a Michael Moore might want to emphasize.’ That is all that my son has said. Never, however, to at all disparage the country and the patriotism that is so necessary for all of us. But, patriotism, as suggested by FOX News’ [Bill O’Reilly], is following the line of George W. Bush and cohorts completely! All my son is saying is, ‘Hey, maybe there’s a what if.’ Never, though, did he get sidetracked from the fact that [he loves his] country."

"What disturbed him more than anything else, I think, was the fact that the Iraqi citizens suffered so much and are suffering so much now," said Winthrop Buswell. "The time that he was injured, there were several Iraqis burning to death in front of him. He tried to put out the fire. It was a traumatic experience for him. … He spoke about that a number of times, and how terrible that was to see the citizenry being killed and suffering so much."

"One of his heroes is Abraham Lincoln," Winthrop Buswell continued. "And Abraham Lincoln said many things, but one of the things he said - and I’m paraphrasing - was, ‘I may disagree with the fellow who’s speaking, but I will stand and defend his right to speak.’ That’s my son’s position. He does look at the what if’s. But that doesn’t take away from his dedication and his patriotism. I don’t know a fellow who gets more chills running up and down his spine when he sees the flag flying."

"As a boy, [Donald was] always a very curious fellow," he added. "Very daring, but never risking anything or stepping over the line. He loved motorcycles, but was always very cautious about it, always wearing proper clothing, always wearing a helmet. Also, he was very active in little model racing cars. He was in Cub Scouts. I remember walking to the gymnasium with him and having wonderful conversations with him years ago. His mother and I went through a divorce, and that is never easy for anyone. My son was also very close to his grandfather on his mother’s side, and also his grandfather and grandmother on my side. Back to the hash boycott, for a moment. Apparently, not "...everyone is on board. The Forward quoted one Jerusalem area dealer as saying, "It all comes from Hezbollah," but he could care less. His comment on the boycott? "Roll that shit, light that shit, smoke that shit." I find this refusal to join in the boycott a principled and logical stance, especially considering the hay that's being made of drug use in the War On Terror's older brother, the War On Drugs. If drugs were legal, the narco-terrorists in the government would have two of its legs cut off: a.) the demand for illegal drugs, and b.) the lifeblood of the prison industry, more than half of which is there on drug charges. The first legislation out of the Second Constitutional Congress should be the annulment of the drug laws. The second should be fully publicly funded elections, and the third the criminalization of war profiteering. Goodbye narco-terrorism, goodbye Carlyle and its ilk...and good riddance.

I am here to distract you.

Never one for UFOs, I must admit to being startled by this, found while perusing the massive 'Spartacus' website. It's about Arthur Young, inventor of the "Bell" helicopter:

As I discussed these new experiments with Young, he stopped and asked me a question. Having figured out my astrological chart while we were talking, he said that I was at the stage in my life where he was in the late 1940s, and just getting the helicopter off the ground. I am on the verge of a great discovery, he said.

Then he asked me, “Are you an alien?”

Taken aback, I asked if he meant like an illegal Irish alien, without a green card?

And he said, no, was I from the Pleadies?

“Where are the Pleadies?” I asked.

When Young said the Pleadies were some two hundred thousand light years away in the Tarus constalation, I said, no I wasn’t. I really was born just across the river in Camden, New Jersey and was then living in Ocean City, New Jersey. I think he was disappointed I wasn’t an alien.

He explained that my astrological chart indicated that I might have been from the Pleadies. And when I asked more questions, he said that there were already a number of different aliens – meaning people from other planets, galaxies, among us, including those from the Pleadieans, who resemble humans in form and mingle among us to study us. Then there are the “Grays,” who have the big eyes and look like ET and the Roswell crash victims. The Grays and the Pleadians don’t like each other and are often at war, he explained, which puts us in the middle of their inter-gallatic battle.

When I asked if there was any documentation for all this he went into the other room, which was also lined with books from floor to ceiling, and knew right were a particular book was and took it off the shelf. I wrote down the name of the book and it’s author, a retired Air Force officer, whose book was self published in New Mexico.

The book was about a German alpine farmer whose land is used by the Pleadeans as a staging area to come and go in their flying saucers. There’s pictures of the German, the farm, flying saucers in the air, and one of the Pleadians, a knockout blonde, who Art Young said, allowed her picture to be taken because her research project on earth was complete and she was heading home. The flying saucers take them to a “Beam Ship,” which is parked at the edge of the solar system so as not to affect the gravety pull of the planets. The Beam Ship then delivers them back to the Pleadies, a group of some seven planets that are visible to astronomers, but very far away."

Young's "Institute for the Study of Consciousness" site:

Has this stuff been discussed previously by Jeff or the RI folks?

Arthur Young's name has come up here before -- though I don't recall seeing anything like your quote about Pleiadeans. I can't say I'm surprised, though.

A while ago (maybe about a year?) there were extensive discussions of some of the more dubious corners of the New Age, and Young figured in those, though never as a central figure.

Among other things, Young was married to Ruth Forbes Paine (a fourth cousin of John Forbes Kerry), who used her inheritance to finance the International Peace Academy.

Ruth's son by an earlier marriage, Michael R. Paine, allegedly at some point had Marina Oswald living in his home as a family friend and Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle stored in his garage.

There have also been occasional mentions of the more disinfo-like aspects of the UFO movement, such as the "Aviary."

Thanks, Starroute. Here's a bit more, for those interested:

"Ruth Forbes Paine Young had been married twice before. One husband had passed away, while the other Lyman Paine, was a radical co-founder of the Trotskyite movement in the United States. The Forbes however, were well- heeled capitalists, and her relatives were old blue bloods: one was on the board of United Fruit Company during the CIA coup in Guatemala in 1954. The Forbes own an island off the coast of Massachusetts, near Woods Hole..."

Regarding Oswald:

"It was while living in Irving, a suburb of Dallas-Fort Worth, where it was arranged, through a mutual friend, George DeMohrenschildt, for Michael Paine to meet Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald, who had recently returned from Soviet Russia with a Russian wife and child, liked to talk about ideology, Communism and different forms of political societies. DeMohrenschildt thought that Oswald should meet Michael Paine, and through a friend in the oil business, Volkmar Schmidt, arranged for them to meet at a party in February, 1963. The party was held at Schmidt’s house, which he share with two other men, one whose father was a director of Radio Free Europe, and the other, like Schmidt, worked for Magnolia Oil. The odd thing about this party was that neither Schmidt nor Michael Paine showed up.

Oswald and his wife Marina met Ruth Paine however, and Ruth, who was studying Russian at the time, enjoyed talking in Russian with Marina, and they became fast friends. Later on, another party was held for Oswald to meet Michael Paine, and they finally met. One day, when Michael Paine picked Oswald up at his apartment in Oak Cliff to drive him to his home in Irving, Michael Paine saw the photo of Oswald brandishing a rifle, pistol and copies of Communist publications, one of which was the official publication of the Trotskyite Party in the Untied States. I’ve always wondered how Oswald could have talked about those things without Michael Paine telling Oswald that his father was a co-founder of the Trotskyite Party.

Shortly after Oswald is alleged to have taken a pot shot at Gen. Walker in Dallas on April 10, 1963, it was decided that the Oswalds would relocate to New Orleans, Oswald’s hometown. Ruth drove Oswald to the bus station and took Marina and the daughter home with her to Irving until Oswald got settled with a job and apartment in New Orleans. When that happened, Ruth drove Marina there in early May, where they lived for the summer.

It was during the summer of 1963 when Ruth Paine and her two children drove their Chevy station wagon on a roundabout vacation to the Forbes family island off Massachusetts, then to the Young’s home in Paoli, Pa., near Philly, and then to Ohio to see her family. It was then Ruth H. Paine wrote to the expecting Marina at her Magazine street apartment in New Orleans, asking her if she wanted to move to Irving, Texas with her while she had her baby. If so, Ruth said she would drive through New Orleans on the return trip and pick her up, and for Marina to respond by writing to her : c/o Arthur Young, Paoli, Pennsylvania.

So Ruth Paine picked up Marina and the baby, and ostensibly the alleged assassination rifle, and delivered them to her home in Irving, Texas, while Oswald took off for Mexico City, where he tried to get a visa to Cuba. When he returned to Dallas, Oswald stayed at the YMCA for a few days, and then visited his family and the Paines in Irving. Since Michael Paine was separated from his wife, and like Oswald had his own apartment, Oswald occasionally stayed overnight at the Paine home.

On the evening before the assassination, Oswald stayed overnight at the Paine home, and ostensibly took his rifle from the Paine garage and used it to kill the President. At the same time the president was being shot, Michael Paine was sitting in the Bell Helicopter cafeteria having lunch with a co-worker, discussing the subject of political assassination. It was a moment of ESP that only Arthur Young could appreciate."

Someone else on their forum comments:

"I personally think that the whole UFO matter insofar as it relates to the JFK Assassination is what might be called a 'false mystery.' Kenn Thomas wrote an excellent book 'Maury Island UFO - The Chrisman Conspiracy', a very brief summary is that in essence, the 'UFO Sightings' in 1947 were a misnomer, the UFO's were something altogether different, as in very identifiable objects related to anything other than little green men. Thomas' book is a must read for anyone who looks at the JFK Assassination in an investigatory capacity, as opposed to a wilderness of mirrors of endless pet theories. Long story short, I think Mr Young was blowing smoke in that segment of the interview."

To which another comments:

"Young was most certainly a very interesting guy, a devout humanatarian with Quaker ideals, and something of a quack with the esp and ETs, but I don't think he was "blowing smoke" as he really believed what he was saying about the aliens."

Also interesting:

"The atom bomb went off and he (Young) said, 'The only answer to this is the study of the mind."
Mr. Young told a reporter in 1976 that he was convinced that "life and the universe have a purposeful intention that science largely chooses to ignore." He began looking beyond science to spiritual healing, delving into such studies as mental telepathy, hypnotism and Zen buddhism. He wanted "to find and name the laws of the mind, which are the laws of reality," as he once said.

For a time he was head of the Round Table Foundation in Camden, Maine, an institute involved in psychic research.
In 1952, he founded the Foundation for the Study of Consciousness, and began publishing the Journal for the Study of Consciousness. In 1973, he established the Institute for the Study of Consciousness in Berkeley to teach the ideas he developed in two books, The Reflexive Universe and The Geometry of Meaning."

Sorry about the lengthy post. Quick question: how many are aware that Kerry Thornley wrote a book about Oswald, called "The Idle Warriors," published one year before the assassination? Now THAT'S a heck of a coincidence.

well, I know Thornley knew Bob Wilson, and Bob knew Jack Sarfatti:
From Sarfatti's "Illuminati!- In the thick of it":

...Bob Toben drove Sharon and me down to Philadelphia. We stayed
with my literary agent Ira Einhorn and his doomed girl friend Holly Maddux. Ira took us to the mainline mansion of Arthur Young. Young was the inventor of the Bell Helicopter and was a close friend of Charles Lindbergh. Young's wife was an heiress of the Forbes Steel fortune. Young financed the Institute for the Study of Consciousness in Berkeley California. He invited me to stay there.

Einhorn told me he would introduce me to Stewart Brand, Michael Murphy, and George Leonard when I got to San Francisco. He was very concerned about what he called "Soviet breakthroughs in psychotronic weapons of mind control at a distance using ELF and sound waves." He said he had support from the local telephone company and from the Bronfman in Toronto to link up visionary scientists like myself. He also said he was working with Jacques Vallee and Brendan O Regan on a UFO data base.

Ira mentioned that he was working with Congressman Charlie Rose (D. North Carolina) of the House Select Committee on Intelligence. Rose confirmed his connection to Einhorn in a telephone conversation with me.

...Einhorn did his job as my literary agent and arranged a meeting at Arthur Young's Institute in Berkeley that included Michael Murphy, Hazel Henderson and another physicist, Saul Paul Sirag...

SOUTH PLAINFIELD -- A judge revoked bail Wednesday for the South Plainfield stripper accused of illegally possessing a severed human hand and six human skulls after she failed to show up for an arraignment.

Meanwhile, one of the stripper's former housemates told Gannett New Jersey that she witnessed cult-like situations at the home that ultimately left her fearing for her safety. A family member of one of the residents, however, dismissed those accusations.

Come on, Richard. You know, as well as I do, that they have checked out long ago. They are vacant and vacuous stimulation junkies looking for their latest psychotropic tempered fix.

I was wrong about them being Sheep. They are Lemmings, hurtling precipitously towards the cliff's edge. Proble is, you and I are caught up in the momentum of the impending calamity....and we're going over with them....into the abyss.

It reminds me of that famous Peter Paul & Mary song Lemming Tree.

It went something like this:

Lemming Tree
Very Pretty
And The Lemming Flower is Sweet
But The Fruit of The Poor Lemming
Is Impossible To Eat

I like that one better than Puff The Magic Dragon which was obviously about Lebanonese Hashish.

Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race

Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break

He sees the family home now looming in the headlights
the pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache

Many miles away there's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake

Many miles away...

"People who have nothing to hide - why would they worry?"

Anyon else find this to be one of the worst, creepiest, yet (to many) plausible arguments for the Surveillance State? When you come up against this (as I have, in casual discussions) how do you refute it? What specific arguments do you use? I often try to give the argument that 'having nothing to hide' is not the same as wanting to live under constant scrutiny, and that anonymity, privacy, discretion, etc, are necesary for sanity, even if what is going on privately is totally innocuous. Anyway--thoughts? What are some cogent refutations of that quote?

8/24/2006 06:30:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Two argument against "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about" -

1) The more bits of our behavior that are observed by more people, the more we are potentially victimized by their misinterpretations. Police often have a somewhat paranoid mindset and see sinister intent in simple innocent straightforward acts. The whole thing helps maintain and amplify a generally negative and depressive mindset, a gray bleak social-mental landscape. Societies based on paranoia tend to create more of it; and I would submit that societies based on trust tend to create more trust. [That leads to the puzzle of how to deal with those who would exploit trust for iappropriate gain; i.e., psychopaths and their lesser kin.]

2) Excessive surveillance is quite expensive, and wastes resources that could otherwise be used to do useful types of investigations based on reasonable ideas of probably cause or do something else genuinely useful.

In addition, a lot of resources will be wasted with people playing games with the system, creaating false leads as a form of recreation, similar now to people filling out bogus market research forms. The whole thing creates disrespect for the justice systtem, as well as a general cynicism.

re: 'The Greenbaum Speech'

"Lecture by D.C.Hammond, originally entitled 'Hypnosis in MPD: Ritual Abuse,' but now usually known as the 'Greenbaum Speech,' delivered at the Fourth Annual Eastern Regional Conference on Abuse and Multiple Personality, Thursday June 25,
1992, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Mark Center, Alexandria, Virginia."

- Dr. Hammond: "Ritual abuse is real and that the people who say it isn't are either naive like people who didn't want to believe the Holocaust or - they're dirty."

I'll try to summarize:

- Operation Paperclip not only got out rocket scientists, but also some Nazi doctors who had been doing mind-control research in the camps. The Nazi doctors were Satanists. They started doing mind-control research for Military Intelligence in military hospitals in the United States.

- most cases of MPD are created through 'Cult' mind-control programming: "by about two and a half after the child's already been made dissociative"; "The way you create Manchurian Candidates is you divide the mind"

- two types of victims: 'Non-Bloodline', outsiders, who are expendable; 'Bloodline', children of insiders, trained to becomes operatives (assassins, prostitutes, doctors, politicians, business people, ...)

- very elaborate programming is described: many 'alters' are created; there are more alters watching each other than there are given primary functions (as in any dangerous weapon - which is what these people are - safeguards are built in)

- alters are often given consistent names: "Alphas appear to represent general programming, the first kind of things put in..."; "Betas appear to be sexual programs. For example, how to perform oral sex in a certain way..."; "Deltas are killers ... there'll also be some self-harm stuff mixed in with that..."; "Thetas are called psychic killers"; "Gamma appears to be system-protection and deception programming..."; "come-home programs, 'come back to the Cult'"; "erasure programs"; "Master Programmer"; "Omega has to do with self-destruct programming"

- around 1978 the Process Church went underground (not literally!) in Utah after the Manson murders and became 'The Foundation' or the 'Cult'

- is this speech 'real', and not an Internet rumour or disinformation ?

-- Some Googling reveals Dr. D. Corydon Hammond as a real doctor (University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, UT), who seems to be a recognized expert in the fields of hypnotism and biofeedback. Here is his listing on Amazon; Here is a bio (Google cache)

-- the speech is stated to be "Sponsored by the Center for Abuse Recovery & Empowerment, The Psychiatric Institute of Washington, D.C. Both a tape and a transcript were at one time available from Audio Transcripts of Alexandria, Virginia (800-338-2111). Tapes and transcripts of other sessions from the conference are still being sold but - understandably - not this one. The transcript below was made from a privately made tape of the original lecture."

-- assuming Dr. Hammond gave the speech at the time and place stated, is this an accurate transcript?

-- Dr. Hammond is quoted making similar statements on the False Memory Syndrome website (presented as absurdities, to discredit him). Does this corroborate the Greenbaum Speech, or were both items 'embellished' by FMSF to discredit Dr. Hammond?

- is Dr. Hammond himself a victim of disinformation - being fed absurd stories by false 'patients'?
